Day 1: Karen Gee dress, Martin Grant coat

Meghan arrived in a simple white sheath, which she later added the coat to; it was not the most thrilling arrival but it was certainly sleek and professional, and after a long flight I think this was a perfectly good choice. She didn't need to come out with jazz hands out of the gate. She just needed... well, not to fall over, really.

And here was her first olive color of the trip. It's a great dress and also looking back, this expression feels like, "I AM SO TIRED AND I HAVE TO STAY AWAKE UNTIL A REASONABLE BEDTIME WHAT DAY EVEN IS IT."

Day 2: in Serena Williams (blazer), Maison Kitsane (shirt), Outland denim (jeans), J Crew (boots)

I know a lot of people weren't as into these looks as I am, but the blazer/cardigans and jeans and booties were a big hit with me. She looks so comfortable.

Day 3: In Dion Lee

I did not like this dress. She and I have different tastes in skirts: She likes ones with a funky hem in front and then a random extra piece of fabric. To each their own.

in Club Monaco

This was the first of the same-day changes that seemed... curious. Why not just throw the coat on over the navy dress? My theory: She didn't have flats that went with the navy dress. But: Why not pack flats that go with your favorite color?!?

Day 4: in Martin Grant (dress) and Castañer (espadrille wedges)

The stripes on the beach were such an exciting departure. I didn't love the band across her hips, but most people disagreed with me.

Day 4: in Roksanda and Stuart Weitzman

This is one of my favorites from the whole tour. Its effect was mildly blunted coming a day removed from another navy dress, and she sat for most of this engagement so we missed the effect of the hem. But it's pretty great.

Day 5: in Emilia Wickstead

This is really quite great.

in Altuzarra and Mother denim

Another crisp casual look. She actually almost looks like she's playing off Harry's military garb.

in Stella McCartney

This photo is courtesy of Omid Scobie's Twitter account, and it's a Stella dress she's worn before, with the Gillian Anderson coat. It's a great ensemble, but I don't totally understand wearing a cape dress AND a coat. Doesn't the cape dress bunch up under the coat sleeves?

Day 6: L'Agence and Outland

And then, second verse, same as the first: She wore such a similar look a day before. Both work, though she seems to have regretted the heels in grass on this day.

Day 7: in & Other Stories

I love this look and wish she'd worn it for longer than just a mad travel dash. 

in Reformation

This was the dress that had a slit that went further up than people expected. The world did not end! She looks so comfortable and happy; live and let live, slit and let slit. This woman probably won't get that many more of those, so GET AWAY WITH IT WHILE YOU CAN, I say.

This is also from KP's twitter, and is one of the only shots of the cocktail ensemble from this party. It's pretty unimpeachable.

Day 8: Outland, J Crew, Aquazzura

I mean, not bad for a plane trip, that's for sure.

Day 8: Zimmermann

Y'all know I was not at all wild about how this one was made. It's a poorly constructed garment. My theory is that everyone anticipated pregnancy changes for the SECOND half of the tour but none of them thought things would change much in the first half, and then Meghan woke up with larger boobs and was like, "OH NO." Bodice fit is something that's long been a problem with her styling, but at least here there's a reasonable explanation for it. I wish they'd picked slightly more forgiving cuts.

Day 8: Safiyaa

I did love this, though. Many of you wished the cape contrasted a bit, maybe on the lining, so that her shape didn't get lost. I understand that, but I still think it's really striking.

Day 9: in Figue

This was a totally fun change of pace.

Day 10: Jason Wu

This might be my favorite dress on her. It's a perfect color, the cut is forgiving, and there is some interest up top so that when she's seated you aren't bored.

See? Also, the navy shoes with it are great.

This was for the arrival in Tonga, and the color is superb.

Day 10: Theia Couture, Givenchy clutch

This was the dress that made some waves because the designer a) gave a whole interview about how they were asked to make it with an extra seam, so it could be let out, and b) because the designer started selling it as the Duchess of Sussex dress and then like four hours later suddenly it no longer had any mention of her. HMM. 

Day 11: Martin Grant

I actually really enjoy this one, too, but agree with Jessica's note that I wish it the collar wasn't buttoned up all the way and that it had a regular collar.

in Veronica Beard

I would argue that Day 11 might have been her most successful day in toto, because she started with the stripes, the moved onto this very breezy shirt-dress with interesting shoes we hadn't seen before...

in Oscar de la Renta

... and then finished with the butterfly dress. Harry's outfit is wrong with it, but that's okay, because THE LADY WINS.

Day 12: Scanlan Theodore, Outland Denim, Sarah Flint shoes

I don't love the cut of this sweater, but she looks really good in that color and was clearly so stoked to be at the Games this day.

Day 12: Antonio Berardi, Aquazzura

This was also pretty shapeless and I don't adore the halter/tuxedo top, AND the color blended too well with the backdrop. BUT: Alone on my island, I loved the shoes, and the highlight of this day was her great speech and that will be more indelible than her outfit anyway.

Day 13: in BOSS

This dress is also right up there as one of my favorites. It's SO chic on her, and yet she only really wore it to leave Sydney. Such a shame.

Day 13: in Karen Walker and an ASOS maternity dress we can't see

Sure! That's fine. It made me laugh a little that she wore something from the maternity line, despite totally not being maternity-size. I remember with my ill-fated second pregnancy, the second I found out I was pregnant I was like, "WELL, BETTER GET OUT THE JEANS EXPANDER!!!!" I did not need it yet. But I WANTED to need it.

Day 13: in Gabriela Hearst

This is fine. Those strappy shoes are the most starlet-y that Meghan has been since getting married. I think they might actually BE Stuart Weitzman Nudists, which are The Ones You See Everywhere.

Day 14: in Club Monaco (trench), Jac + Jack (sweater), Outland denim

This look works for me, too. She seems comfortable but super polished. Is it dumb to say she looks French? Yes. But she does. Or rather, she looks like pople's platonic ideal of French ladies: sleek, chic, clad in lots of black.

Day 14: in Seasalt Cornwall and Stella x adidas

I appreciate a sensible jacket. The shoes are almost identical to other kicks she'd recently worn, which was a mystery.

Day 14: in Maggie Marilyn

I did not like this coat-dress, but the THEORY of it was okay? 

Day 15: in Karen Walker

More Karen Walker. She got a lot of play in New Zealand. The blazer seems a little short, like it was meant to go over a dress rather than be worn with jeans?

Day 15: in Burberry and Brandon Maxwell

This is the outfit that was so identical-seeming to Day 1 that many people on Instagram thought it WAS the same. IT IS NOT. Different dress, different coat. She didn't QUITE bookend the tour in the same outfit because there was still another event AND THEN another day after this, so... I'm all for what's comfortable, but again, this is where better planning could've led to a different color.

This is a re-wear, or something she re-ordered in a different size. The first sighting was at polo and we barely got to see it, so she might've wanted to give it more due, but in a size that was more comfortable. (Kate's McQueen from Meghan's wedding may also have been a re-make of a dress in a larger size, so that's not unprecedented.) 

Day 16: Stella

And now we're at another navy dress for a welcome ceremony in New Zealand. It's a nothing of a dress, so it made for a blank canvas for her ceremonial cloak (and that great necklace). That's the best I can say about it.

in Givenchy

These separates, I liked SO MUCH better, although of course in some lights people thought the skirt might be see-through (I think it was an optical illusion). I don't get planning for two such similar dresses on one day. 

And they rounded things out so casually and comfortably, which is as it should be for two exhausted people. Having said that, I honestly don't think Meghan betrayed looking tired at all. I'm super impressed by that. I would have been a crazy devil woman. I AM CURRENTLY a crazy devil woman.
