Hello! points out that Princess Alexandra -- and, I believe, all of the bridesmaids -- [is wearing a periwinkle blue version of Kate Middleton's most spectacular Jenny Packham](https://www.hellomagazine.com/royalty/2013092114673/princess-alexandra-luxembourg-kate-middleton-dress/?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io). That is a LOT to live up to, but she looks very pretty. In other news, the bride is marrying a dude who shares a name with her brother, which always gives me the weirds.

Pierre is Princess Caroline's youngest son -- he's 26 -- and per the Royal Experts who write these things at Wikipedia (to whom I owe a debt of gratitude), he is known for having been a modelizer and also for having gotten into a huge brawl at a bar in in New York, possibly OVER models. Oh, Pierre, *behave*. Beatrice, as you will notice, is wearing pants -- a bold move at a royal wedding -- and a very wacky headpiece. Let's take a closer look.

Um, this is....understated? Apparently, Beatrice "is a member of the ancient aristocratic House of Borromeo, and she is well known in the Italian news media as an outspoken television personality." One of her ancestors is an actual saint, her family owns a bunch of islands (they're obviously quite [hideous](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Lago-Maggiore%5F1387.JPG?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)), and her uncle used to be the director of Valentino. She also graduated from Columbia Journalism School. So...she's bringing some stuff to the table, I guess.

Sebastien is the baby of the family; Tessy and Louis are married. Tessy is a commoner -- GASP! -- who was part of a NATO peace-keeping team in Kosovo, where she and Louis met. Their first child was born FIVE MONTHS AFTER THE WEDDING SHOCK ESCANDELO WHERE ARE MY PEARLS FOR ME TO GRASP THEM. I like her hat as well.

So, this is juicy! [Per Wiki](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archduchess%5FMarie%5FAstrid%5Fof%5FAustria?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io), back in the day, Marie Astrid was considered "as one of the few eligible royal princesses from European reigning houses,...an ideal candidate.. for marriage to Charles, Prince of Wales. Media reports in the 1970s regularly speculated about the prospects of such a marriage, the Daily Express claiming in June 1977 that the couple's engagement was imminent. (Unconfirmed media reports in the British press claimed that Pope Paul VI had prevented a marriage by refusing under Ne Temere to accept that the children of the couple could not be brought up Roman Catholic.) It has been since suggested that the marriage rumours were a result of efforts to detect a leaker in the Privy Council. In reality, a marriage between the British heir and the Roman Catholic princess was unlikely, as the terms of the Act of Settlement 1701 would have had to have been repealed or modified." I have so many nerdy reactions to that, and they can all be summed up by: EFFORTS TO DETECT A LEAK IN THE PRIVY COUNCIL! Is nothing sacred?!

Anyway, obviously, she ended up marrying this dude (we all know what happened to Chaz).

These two are brother and sister, further spawn of Carl-Christian and Marie Astrid. They are SO BLOND. He looks like he could pop into a production of *The Sound of Music* at a moment's notice; I think she is quite young, and very pretty. I wish I could see her headpiece better, and I wish she'd worn more of a color? Regardless, carry on, you two.

Diane here is Wife Number 2 for Prince Jean, and she NAILED this. ## Princess Sibilla Of Luxembourg and Prince Guillaume Of Luxembourg

These two are married AND distant cousins, which is so traditionally royal! Her mother was a noblewoman, but her father was the son of an aviator (!) and Miss Europe 1930 (!) and THOSE TWO are really the ones I want to know all about. I mean, [look at their wedding photo!](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Paul-Louis%5FWeiller,%5FAliki%5FDiplarakou,%5F1932.jpg?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) He was one of the youngest to receive the Legion of Honor in World War I, and then, in 1940, "he was stripped of his French citizenship by the Vichy government and placed under house arrest in Marseille. He escaped in January 1942, fleeing first to Morocco, then to Cuba, and finally to Canada, where he contributed to the efforts of France libre (he was issued passport no. 1). His mother was deported and died at Auschwitz in 1944." JEEZ. That is a book right there. Heroism! Terrible tragedy! Nazis! Also, he was married to a princess whom he divorced to marry the beauty queen, who, by the way, "made headlines in the 1930s when she dressed up in men's clothes and smuggled herself into the monks' sanctuary on Mount Athos which had stood "inviolate" \[to women\] since the time of the Byzantine Empire." This is like the most amazing mini-series ever.

Prince Guillaume is not nearly as interesting. He WAS born in a castle, though.

"Count Rodolphe de Limburg-Stirum" sounds totally made-up. But he is real! And his family dates back to, like, the medieval times. (Technically, I always wonder, doesn't everyone's? We're all related to SOME medieval yahoo or another, even if said medieval yahoo was herding goats or whatever 98% of people were doing in 1100 off in Africa or South America or the wilds of what is now Canada, or an island somewhere.) However, his family includes the following, again, per Wikipedia, which is a weirdly useful source for obscure royals:

\--"Heinrich I Furiosus, Count Palatine of Lotharingia from 1045 until 1060\. He was elected as successor for the German kingdom during Emperor Heinrich III's illness. Hearing that his wife Mathilde (daughter of Duke Gozelo of Lotharingia, and sister of pope Stephen IX) had a love-affair with one of his relatives, he killed her with an axe. Heinrich then was enclosed into the abbey of Echternach, where he died in 1061." CALM DOWN, HEINRICH.

\--"Conrad I, Duke of Bavaria, heir of Henry III, Holy Roman Emperor. He was deprived of the dukedom in 1053 when the Emperor installed his son as Duke. He died in exile after an attempt to assassinate the Emperor and seize the throne." CALM DOWN, CONRAD.

\--A dude who may or may not have murdered his cousin who was also his political rival on PURPOSE or just by accident. CALM DOWN, DUDE.
