I also like that she went a wee bit fashion forward with those sleeves -- and I also appreciate that she wore fall colors instead of wedding-y pastels. In short, I approve, Princess Maxima. I also approve of her because [Wikipedia just taught me that she and I share a birthday (although she is older than I am)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Princess%5FM%C3%A1xima%5Fof%5Fthe%5FNetherlands?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io). She was an international banker before she married Willem (who is heir to the Dutch throne). She is also apparently an ardent supporter of gay rights. Maxima and I are all good, even if ALLEGEDLY her father might be kind of a not very nice man as regards his position on the Argentinian cabinet. (Wikipedia has all kinds of interesting factoids about people you never even thought about before.) ## Princess Miriam of Hungary and Prince Kyril of Bulgaria ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2012/10/154448067.jpg) "Princess Miriam" doesn't even have a Wikipedia page, which makes me think she might be from Hungary, West Virginia. She IS wearing a giant giant hat and elbow gloves AND a beaded cardigan, though, so I guess we'll keep her secret from Prince Kyril here. HE, by the way, isn't REALLY a prince, per Wikipedia, other than "out of courtesy," because his father was EXILED. ALSO! He is NOT married to "Princess Miriam" but he IS married to someone else ALTHOUGH "anonymous sources" claim they've broken up AND he used to work at Lehman Brothers. All in all: SCANDALE!!!! GET OUT OF THIS WEDDING! ## Prince Jean of France and Princess Philomena ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2012/10/154447839.jpg) Prince Jean here is the French Dauphin..."[according to Orleanists](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince%5FJean,%5FDuke%5Fof%5FVend%C3%B4me?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)," which means he is lucky he's not locked in a tower somewhere, if all the novels I've read are to be believed. (Also, give it up, Orleanists! You guys are all [arguing A LOT over the rules of succession for a country that doesn't have an actual ruling family!](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Line%5Fof%5Fsuccession%5Fto%5Fthe%5FFrench%5Fthrone%5F%28Orl%C3%A9anist%29?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) I enjoy your flair for drama, however.) I think? Princess Tessy there is married to Prince Louis. She is also a commoner (!) who was part of the freaking NATO peace-keeping force in Kosovo, and they had a baby before they even got married which seems like it ought to be a big deal in royal circles, even nowadays (after all, the French Maybe-Dauphin didn't even get to marry a Protestant!). So, I want to stand next to her during cocktails because, dude, she is going to have some stuff to talk about. Ladies (and gentleman), Prince Felix is single and a student of bioethics! Prince Sebastien is ALSO single, but he is only 20, so don't get creepy over there. ## Prince Jean of Luxembourg and Countess Diane of Nassau ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2012/10/154444138.jpg) Reading about the rules of succession in Luxembourg is seriously giving me a headache. There are a LOT of royals in Luxembourg. Apparently, this prince gave up his place in the line of succession? I can't even figure out why. But he sure looks jolly about it! Go with God, Prince Jean. His bride Countess Diane looks FANTASTIC, I think. The jacket is interesting, I like the pattern on the skirt, and the fascinator is totally jaunty. The hat looks like a little gray bird landed right on top of her head. Apparently, these two got engaged in Gsaad (OF COURSE), she dropped out of a variety of institutes of higher learning, her dad invented the concept of duty-free shopping, and basically if you are interested in the insane behavior of the super-rich and quasi-royal, [you should read this article about them in Vanity Fair](https://www.vanityfair.com/style/features/2008/02/marie%5Fchantal200802?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io). I even like her hat despite the fact that it looks a bit like a delicious falafel. It has been driving me crackers. I enjoy that they're hanging out. I like to think he sidled up to her and said, "hey, our countries are neighbors, and they didn't let me bring my girlfriend, just because she used to be a glamour model and was on *Paradise Hotel* and once made out with Jenna Jameson in Vegas. Want to hang out?" And Martha Louise was like, "...fine." These two met at a pub in Australia during the Olympics in Sydney -- she is Australian -- which is my new favorite story. For ages, she didn't even know he was a Prince! (Allegedly!) But I KNOW you guys want to look at the crazy hats and the fancy fancy dress uniforms of a wide, wide variety of random royal and quasi-royal folk. I feel like we learned this when Kate and Wills got married, but WOW there are a lot of titled folks running around Europe. I like to think they all spend a lot of time talking shit about each other over their morning toast points, and that at least one of them has firmly set her cap for Prince Harry -- with a dedicated war room featuring wall composed solely of shirtless photos of him and everything.
