# Fendi Mixed Elements of Sci-Fi and... Rome? Sure!

Kim Jones [said he was inspired by](https://wwd.com/runway/spring-couture-2022/paris/fendi/review/?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) both the science fiction he read over the pandemic, and Rome as the ultimate juxtaposition of all things new and very, very old ("sci-fi costumes always reference historic dress," he said to *WWD*, [while telling *Vogue* ](https://www.vogue.com/fashion-shows/spring-2022-couture/fendi?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)he felt like Rome has a celestial quality). I definitely felt that Matrix element, and some of the printed images are obvious, but... mostly I thought the designs were either very precise or weirdly sloppy and not a lot of in-between.
