This is the first time the awards show has been held in Brooklyn and Barclays Center which opened last September. Vma Mtv Barclays, Brooklyn, New York, United States - 25 Aug 2013 Ariana was 20 here, but also believably like 15\. Nowadays she seems like... an airbrushed version of this girl, is the best way I can think of to put it. Still herself, but somehow with a blurring tool. She also -- am I crazy -- kind of looks in this photo like her current paramour Ethan Slater. I think it's the quizzical eyebrows and not her ACTUAL face. ## Miley Cyrus ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/09/shutterstock_editorial_12371361d-1694473160.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Dennis Van Tine/UPI/Shutterstock (12371361d) Miley Cyrus arrives on the red carpet at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards at Barclays Center in New York City on August 25, 2013\. This is the first time the awards show has been held in Brooklyn and Barclays Center which opened last September. Vma Mtv Barclays, Brooklyn, New York, United States - 25 Aug 2013 We've been through a LOT with Miley over the years, and on this night, she performed the infamous twerking performance where she also rubbed at Robin Thicke's crotch with a foam finger. (It got Hannah Montana toys yanked from many store shelves.) But at this point in the night, we thought it was just good clean beaded fun. ## Katy Perry ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/09/shutterstock_editorial_12371361af-1694473207.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Dennis Van Tine/UPI/Shutterstock (12371361af) Katy Perry arrives on the red carpet at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards at Barclays Center in New York City on August 25, 2013\. Vma Mtv Barclays, Brooklyn, New York, United States - 25 Aug 2013 This Emanuel Ungaro [had just appeared at the Met Gala on the back of Coco Rocha](https://www.gofugyourself.com/photos/met-ball-fugs-and-fabs-models-at-the-met/punk-chaos-to-couture-costume-institute-gala-67?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io), which is an extremely tough act to follow. Katy is doing her level best... ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/09/shutterstock_editorial_12371361as-1694473172.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Dennis Van Tine/UPI/Shutterstock (12371361as) Katy Perry arrives on the red carpet at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards at Barclays Center in New York City on August 25, 2013\. This is the first time the awards show has been held in Brooklyn and Barclays Center which opened last September. Vma Mtv Barclays, Brooklyn, New York, United States - 25 Aug 2013 This looks like she sewed a bearskin rug to a cummerbund. ## Erin Wasson ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/09/shutterstock_editorial_12371361ae-1694473194.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Dennis Van Tine/UPI/Shutterstock (12371361ae) Erin Wasson arrives on the red carpet at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards at Barclays Center in New York City on August 25, 2013\. Vma Mtv Barclays, Brooklyn, New York, United States - 25 Aug 2013 What a long, strange trip for several of these gentlemen. (It's... Liam, Zayn, Niall, Harry, and Louis, right? Vma Mtv Barclays, Brooklyn, New York, United States - 26 Aug 2013 She won for the "I Knew You Were Trouble" video. She looks nice, but more like she's at the Oscars than the VMAs -- maybe that's why the next year she let her pendulum swing back far enough [for her to wear that leotard](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/nine-years-ago-taylor-swift-busted-out-that-leotard-08-2023/). ## Iggy Azalea ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/09/shutterstock_editorial_12371376q-1694473263.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Dennis Van Tine/UPI/Shutterstock (12371376q) Iggy Azalea arrives on the red carpet at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards at Barclays Center in New York City on August 25, 2013\. Vma Mtv Barclays, Brooklyn, New York, United States - 25 Aug 2013 I don't love that it looks like her dress was designed by a fan of Justin Timberlake ripping open Janet's dress at the Super Bowl. Otherwise, she looks GREAT, and also, 2013 Selena, I have SO MUCH TO TELL YOU.
