This is vintage -- it's from Versace's 2003 couture collection -- and it is TERRIFIC on her. It fits like a glove, the sheer bits are thoughtful and elegant, it still has a bit of an edge thanks to the leather. It's simply great.
Laverne Cox in Kim Kassas
Laverne follows up her Almost Best Dressed at the Golden Globes triumph, with this number, which she waxed on about at length on the pre-show, explaining it was inspired by Cleopatra and Goldfinger and Andre Leon Talley, but she never name-dropped the designer! It's Kim Kassas. (I hate that Laverne keeps asking people "what story are you telling with this look" without also asking them who made said look. That question does get some decent answers but it's not the whole story. So to speak. The designers deserve their moment in the sun, too.) Anyway, she looks fine!
Doja Cat in Versace
She told Variety that this look would be "brutalist" and I'm not sure this is that, exactly, but I also mostly think of that word applying to buildings. It's perfectly appealing on her. It might lack a LITTLE bit of her innate sense of humor, but I think you could have addressed that with accessories.

Brandi Carlile's performance was STELLAR, as usual, and this is fine! The E! pre-show said this look took a YEAR to bring together, though, and I'm not sure if it's Took a Whole Year Good.

This whole thing is incredibly well-accessorized. Also -- I had to laugh when Laverne asked him on the pre-show if he was rooting for Beyonce, and he was like, "well, yes, but also I'm up against her? So..."

She won this past season of Big Brother, and he got voted out in a TOUGH WEEK where he kind of got screwed by a game twist, and they had some Misunderstandings Brought On By The Game, but now they're dating. I am neutral on their looks but I am DELIGHTED to see them.
