This whole photo has the kind of vibe that makes me think Timmy C would be well-suited to being cast in a movie about the well-meaning offspring of Bill and/or Ted. And he somehow ends up at the Met Gala! IT'S GNARLY!

Anyway, I know this will be controversial, but I like this and I'm also impressed by the ability to make what I am pretty sure are sweatpants look like you just stepped off the stage of Hamilton. It's unusual for someone to wear a mix of designers to one of these things (the turtleneck is Rick Owens, so it's not really mixing up the look THAT much), but I think the real star of this are the Converse. THAT says "American Whatever This Was Again" to me more than almost anything else.

Whoops, Megan's dress is definitely light pink and not merely, as it says in my notes, "MAYBE light pink?????" It's also a very frothy delight on her.

Look how charming this is from the side. A legit party dress. Generally, I am not a fan of Coach's red carpet efforts -- they are great at bags but their formalwear often falls short -- but this is delightful. (And the bag is, of course, VERY cute.)

I really thought we'd see more Jeremy Scott/Moschino at this, but the world is a veiled mystery to us all. This gown is truly a feat of engineering.

How does that bodice stay up?! Is this a salute to the famous Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass album Whipped Cream & Other Delights? I have questions!

"These took hours, please appreciate them!" I do!

She looks fantastic in this -- it's so Roaring 20s -- AND people rarely wear Simkhai to the Met Gala and he's SO good. This is good news all around!

Claire Danes

This ear piece is so cool! I wonder if it also gets WiFi. Also: this is a great haircut on her.

This dress needs a tiny hoik and I think a lot of you will disagree with me here, but I really like it. It feels like a crisp beach towel gone formal and I know that sounds rude but I mean it as a wholly complimentary transformation.

And the back is amazing. She wears Prabal a lot, so this isn't a huge surprise to me, although I would have bet money on her wearing Zac Posen. Good thing there isn't a bookie for the Met Gala.

Okay, this is maybe a LEETLE bridal. The wedding of a woman who was obsessed with that time Sharon Stone wore a button-down to the Oscars -- and who amongst us is not, in our hearts, at least a little bit that woman?

The diamonds on these two are GOOD -- his pin is amazing. He, actually, looks basically fantastic from top to toe.

THIS IS A GOWN!

The event coincides with the Met Costume Institute's first two-part exhibition, 'In America: A Lexicon of Fashion' which opens 18 September 2021, to be followed by 'In America: An Anthology of Fashion' which opens 05 May 2022 and both conclude 05 September 2022. 2021 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, USA - 13 Sep 2021

Truly, I think this is beautiful. She looks like an elegant dandelion.

This is custom Rodarte and it is lovely -- she looks like an incredibly chic Star Wars character. (And Rodarte once did a whole Star Wars-themed show, so I feel confident someone noted that over there at their house at least once.) And by "an incredibly chic Star Wars character" please know that I do mean, "if Princess Leia went to the Met Gala."

Also basically great; Ralph Lauren feels like a real go-to for this one. (I forgot how much Ralph loves a belt.)

He's a professional skateboarder and an Olympian and this suit is rad. (I haven't seen a credit on it yet, but I suspect it is LV.

This is of course his own work but I think what we REALLY need to talk about is the fact that at some point in the evening, he was wearing a necklace with LUMIERE FROM BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. Jerry Orbach, New York remembers you!

This has a real Victorian Ghost Child vibe and honestly I'm mad that this event hasn't done a GHOSTS theme yet. Imagine the possibilities!

But Who Wore White to the Met Gala? WHO?
YES, we're finally getting to Timmy Chalamet!
