Well, she has two daughters, so it makes sense that she showed up to a child-related gala looking like a Disney princess. But I think she carries it nicely -- that color is amazing -- so that she looks elegant but not twee.
Jessica's comment when this walked down the runway was "Argh," but I think Nicole looks good. I think there are a couple keys: slightly fewer flowers on the shoulders than on the original, no earrings on Nicole, and the shape of the skirt looks better here than it did there (though maybe that was just that the photographer caught the catwalk one in the middle of a weird stride). And finally, I think it's just a good fit between the wearer and the worn. The pleats aren't ideal -- they make everyone look fresh off a donut binge -- but this is very much her. Or maybe I'm a softie today, I don't know. But has that ever really been the case? I don't think so.
She's basically lost her baby weight like it was never there in the first place, so I'll give her a pass for wanting to celebrate that with a transparent skirt. (Although let's sidebar for a moment on how good she's been looking on Hart of Dixie. You know your face is legit when it's ALL the cameramen can show of you, every week, and you're still winning the show.) I will not give her a pass on the shoes. I hate them. They are not shoes. They are pony-tail holders glued to a block. They make my face incinerate like Mrs. White on an Yvette binge.
This almost bugs me more than a cracked-out jumpsuit would, because it's so bland. And on the right side, not reacting well to her stance. It's not making any kind of statement, and it's not so absurdly flattering that it's an unmissable opportunity; it's just fabric that is keeping her from being naked, which is a pretty easy bar to clear. If that bar were the limbo, she could get under it without even bending her knees. Surely she can aspire to more. That's why we HAVE knees.
I was with her until the end, where her skirt gets tight, stops, and then in fact appears to be bursting off her thigh.
SOMEBODY is relieved her Uterine Secret is now a Uterine Fact.
She is so pretty. But she is Steven Spielberg's stepdaughter. She can wear better. YOUR MOTHER WAS IN SPACE CAMP, CHILD. HONOR THY LEGACY.
He has looked nutballs at his last couple events, so three cheers for keeping it simple and letting me stare into his dreamy blue eyes without it being because I'm afraid to look elsewhere.
I don't have the energy to experience feelings about this. It's fine. She looks nice, age-appropriate, classy, healthy of hair... these are all nice things.
She looks great. Having just said all that about Julie Bowen, she probably should have worn this.
She is selling that better than anyone has a right to. Better than to which anyone has a right. Oh, forget it. I have a cold. I need to go swim in some Vicks.
