Jaime King and Rachel Bilson

I like Jamie's skirt enough to wish it came with an actual bodice as well. Or even if it joined up with the tube top, which then needs to be hiked up a few inches... Basically, shoes, makeup, hair: Yes. Skirt: potential. Tube top: from Lemon's secret underbed trunk vortex which is her portal to her actual era, which she pops into whenever she wants to borrow something retro from herself. If Hart of Dixie needs a kick in the pants next season, she should shove Zoe in there and make it all about time travel.

Meanwhile, Bilson looks like she designed hers after a Costco coupon suckered her into buying more Kleenex than her house could possibly store.

Nina Dobrev

Oh, Nina. You are usually so flawless. And if anyone out there right now is likey to make me NOT dislike skintight satin, it's probably you. And you ALMOST pulled it off, with the red shoes and the face and the hair and the face. But there's too much working against you: One, it's skintight satin, and two, it's SKINTIGHT SATIN. That almost never works. Also, I realize it might not actually be satin. I am fashion stupid; I never know. But it LOOKS like satin, and that's just as bad. It turns her into one big wrinkle, and she is too awesome to have ANYTHING in common with my forehead.

Kat Graham

This has an air about it of her TRYING to wear it with a strapless black bra, until some CW flunky was like NO YOU CAN'T, JAIME KING IS ALREADY DOING THAT, and tore her a tank top out of some dropcloth. I hope Bonnie starts dressing like this on Vampire Diaries. I mean, if they're going to make her all morally questionable, she should be equally sartorially deviant. That combination forelock/ponytail totally belongs on some fancy Goth My Little Pony called, like, Licorice Whip.

Shenae Grimes

I suspect those are formal shorts, but... can we discuss that Shenae Grimes secretly looks cute here? I wonder if she is a big Hart of Dixie fan, because this entire outfit is probably hanging in Zoe Hart's closet.

Katie Cassidy

Katie here is excellent at sassy repartee -- she's your perfect TV bitch with a heart of gold, if you need one. If she were five years younger, she'd be my ideal Brooke Berlin. Not that Katie is old, but she's played too many twenty-somethings to pass for sixteen. And if she showed up at a fictitious Spoiled junket dressed in this outfit, people would be crying full Carteris. It's not BAD, it's just... I kind of want to take her by her shoulders and say, "SLACKS ARE NOT FOR THE YOUNG."

Mamie Gummer

Mamie is awesome on The Good Wife when she appears, but unfortunately for her, now I just look at her and think of the time her sister Grace was on Smash and had to utter the now-infamous line, "It's this kind of crap that made me want to flee to Micronesia." And I feel like this outfit has me thinking similar thoughts about wanting to run away rather than deal with it. It's just so... there's no there there, as Jessica is fond of saying.

Maggie Q

Is anyone out there watching Nikita? True confession: I have taped every single episode, and watched three of them. I just keep forgetting to go delete the season pass, so I just delete the episodes when they pop up in my DVR. That is pathetic. And yet obviously they don't need me, as the show -- against all odds -- is still alive. And Ringer is dead?!? Y'ALL. That is not right.

Jessica Lowndes

This is totally serviceable, spiced up by some cute blue shoes. Parenthetically, I'm not sure how she went from being a great TV villain -- she switched out Silver's depression meds with placebos, thus forcing her into a manic spree that ruined her shot at NYU! -- to being super boring and forgiven. Kind of a waste.

Jessica Stroup

This is nice and summery and fun -- obviously the mullet skirt gives me a little pause, but overall I'm not mad at it. The neon is in right now, and she's mixing it well. Also, I just bought a shirtdress at Anthropologie that has a slightly longer hem in the back than in the front and I want to believe that it works, so. Yay for things.

AnnaSophia Robb

This girl is stuck trying to be Carrie Bradshaw 2.0 -- or, since it's a prequel, is that Carrie Bradshaw 0.5? At any rate, the sundress is pretty enough, but those shoes feel like they go with a totally different nighttime outfit. And thus Carrie Bradshaw would probably approve.

Ian Somerhalder

Oops, I almost forgot Damon. How clumsy of me. There is so much chiseled pretty between him and Nina Dobrev, I can't help wondering if half their couple time is spent buffing each other. No euphemism intended.

Fug and Fab the Upfronts: The CW
Listen. We may say a lot of things about Zoe Hart's habit of practicing medicine in formal shorts, or about our theory that Lemon Breeland walked through a warp hole in 1940 and decided to stay in rural Alabama because of all the amazing advances the world had made in technology and feminine-hygiene products. But we are as happy as anyone that Hart of Dixie is renewed, because seriously, if any of the aforementioned fashion issues disappeared from our screens AND we were denied Hot Neighbor Wade and Jason Street and Mayor Lavon Hayes and a parade of attractive male guest stars? NOT OKAY. Plus, Jaime King has been turning out the wacky wear now that she's promoting a network show, and I would be bereft without all those associated feelings of bafflement. So BRING IT, LADIES.
