Anne Hathaway in Rodarte

I DO appreciate that my question over Fashion Week -- namely, "who WEARS Rodarte and how do they still exist?!" -- is finally being answered. Maybe they have a new person pushing their work onto red carpets. I mean, look. This is nutty. But it's not TERRIBLE on her?

It's also very DISTRACTING, which I suspect might be intentional.

And there's no doubt that something about this textile is reminiscent of the netting hung around the corners and rafters of The Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland Classic. I look at this dress and I can smell the inside of that ride. That's not as much of a complaint as it sounds like. That ride smells like childhood and piracy and coolness after a hot day. So I am not boiling with rage, is what I am saying.

Here's a good look at the detailing. And also her lipstick. I don't know. I don't ACTUALLY think she's selling this to me, but I do think she's succeeded in marking it down to a reasonable price, one where I wouldn't squawk "WHAT ARE YOU, CRAZY?!" at a person if SHE wanted to buy.

Fug or Fab: Anne Hathaway in Rodarte
I'm pretty sure I think this is hideous -- this IS the Rodarte collection wherein I cracked that algae and fishing netting were so hot for fall -- but her head looks good and I like her shoes and I honestly thought this would be way more heinous when actually deployed on a red carpet, and now I've started feeling confused. Maybe it's NOT actually terrible? Maybe it's interesting? Maybe I have been transported to opposite land, to Bizarro World, where I am Bizarro Jessica and I write with my right hand and love Rodarte and actually know the eights times tables (I somehow never learned past the sixes) and am devoted to raw foodism and Tevas. You better tell me how to feel, Fug Nation. And then perhaps hold me. I'm scared. [Photos: Fame/Flynet, Splash]
