This is a hot disco mess, y'all. It's wet-look fabric really just looks like she skated through a glitter shower, and the elastic waist and unhemmed pants belong with sneakers doing the Roger Rabbit in the background of "What's Up With That?" while Kenan Thompson sings about whether hips actually CAN lie.
I wish we could've seen it as a dress. Something about the side panels, on a jumpsuit, just make me think about how every week some college football team comes out in a stupidly redesigned uniform and I get all ragey about tradition and team colors. Her face looks great, though, doesn't it? Mercy.
The torso strings and mesh faux-bra are also perhaps more than we need here. It looks VERY department-store to me, in terms of quality.
And then, at the same party, Cate swings in wearing this. It is not without flaws -- the top is not fitted very well, for one thing, and something about the spot where the feather-skirt begins is troubling me -- but it defeats Studio Fifty-Bore for sure. At least in my ledger. Maybe you disagree, which is why I'm running this sucker as a democracy today.
