# Fug or Fab: Charlize Theron in Dior

I'll be honest: The words "insect appliqués" are never going to tickle my fancy, especially if I've read them before I've even seen the dress.

But I'll give her that from afar, it looks nifty. Like she's been BeDazzled. Wait, Skin BeDazzling sounds like some kind of horrifying torture-porn crime committed by Jame "Buffalo Bill" Gumb. So maybe let's backtrack away from *Silence of the Lambs* and borrow from *How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days* instead, and say that she simply looks lightly frosted.

Again, though: from afar. Up close, it is, to take from *Clueless* this time, more of a Monet.

Illusion netting is always a bummer up close. As is any illusion, frankly. It's harder to pull the wool over our eyes when said eyes are inches from what's happening. This stops seeming dreamy and mystical and more like... well, a miniature-bug parade all over your nylons. Like a really terrible picnic.

And then from the back, it's a harness. So maybe for me this is a.... Zoom Fug. That is a lousy name for it and let's never speak of it again, but basically, the more information I get, the less captivated I am, and I wish I had remained in blissful fugnorance.
