Christina Hendricks

The whole time I was looking at this, I kept thinking I'd seen it before. I don't think I have, but I realized it's evocative of bits of other things: a pinch of this, a dash of that, and a soupcon of this (but fortunately, ZERO of this). The fit of the skirt is working for me, and it really flatters her awesome curves. The bodice is also a lot more flattering than what she usually picks, but there's also a lot going on there: a necktie, some lace, sleeves, transparency... does the fact that it's all black keep it from being too much of a muchness, so to speak, or do we still need to remove an element? Perhaps the back view will inform you.

I really hate that shirt from this angle.

However, her face and hair are still aces. I think -- much like with Chastain, actually -- that's why I get so nitpicky with her. Those genes do not receive sartorial support that is equal to their glories.

Parenthetically, I cannot imagine how much it costs her to maintain that red all the time. It's the hardest color to keep, which I think is why the Kidmans and Lohans (and even Emma Stones) of the world give up after a while or at least take extended breaks. Hopefully Mad Men amply subsidizes it, because if she suddenly goes blonde in two years I will be so very sad. Christina may not have been born red, but she was certainly born to BE red.

Fug or Fab: Christina Hendricks
I had a dream the other night that I bumped into Christina Hendricks in the ladies' room at a Sizzler. No, really. Apparently my subconscious really likes sensibly priced but mediocre buffets. Anyway, in the dream, she offered me a Diet Coke flavored donut, told me that Jon Hamm thinks he's allergic to pickles but is actually allergic to dinosaurs (easy mistake to make, obviously), and then ripped off a wig -- a la another famous TV redhead -- to reveal that her hair was actually made of hot pink Twizzlers. (This was inspired, I suspect, by the exhibit at my local Arclight Cinema featuring movie scenes recreated with licorice, including one of Elizabeth Berkley licking a pole. It is glorious -- Showgirls the way it was meant to be rendered.) Nothing that dramatic is happening here with this outfit. I'm sorry. But there's still plenty to talk about, so let's move along and then reconvene in the comments to discuss why Diet Coke donuts don't exist yet. [poll id="8161"] [Photos: Getty]
