As best I can tell, this pre-fall Jason Wu gown is the basis for what Daisy is wearing. She very intelligently lopped off the sleeves -- I say that as if she HERSELF took a scissors to it, but you feel me -- and it is also significantly more lined (but not entirely, as you'll see), in a way that makes me cherish her. Because the dress is SO much more glamorous when you're not all up in her bits.

THIS is where you start to see that the dress is perhaps not lined as much as we first thought. It simply hides very well in photographs. It has obviously been tended to very carefully, though, so that it's not a TOTAL transparent shitshow. I think... I obviously prefer it totally lined. But the fact that I had to look this hard to find a picture that showed netting peeking through suggests it was all very tasteful and that I suspect it wouldn't have bothered me in person and thus may not bother me much now. Also: HER FACE.

[Fug or Fab: Daisy Ridley in Jason WuThe Star Wars: The Force Awakens press tour rolled through Shanghai over the break, which I'm sure BARELY gave these people any time for family. Still, the glowing reviews make for a pretty stellar present. Personally -- no spoilers -- I thought the newbies were all excellent in this movie, especially when you look at it next to the prequels. Those things took a future Oscar-winner (Natalie Portman) and a generally well-liked actor (Ewan McGregor) and a relative newbie (Hayden Christensen) and churned out a chemistry-free, joyless three-movie dirge pocked by more wooden performances than you'd get in a forest. I mean, a LOT of emotional moments happen on Daisy Ridley's face, and in close-up no less, and she carries every single one of them, to the point where I look forward to seeing our new pals in the next installment just as much (if not more) as any of the old ones.
