Hailee Steinfeld in Prabal Gurung

If I saw this lying around I might not give it a second glance, but I think Hailee is fixing to be Diane Kruger Jr.: someone with the double whammy of an adventurous fashion spirit and an innate capacity to pull off that stuff. (In fact, you might as easily see this ON The Krugs.) I do think it MIGHT be veering toward bring unwieldy on Hailee -- either lengthwise or just in its general Muchness -- but the fact that she's even making me intrigued at all is pretty impressive. It just kills me that freaking Miley Cyrus equates being interesting with being naked, and thinks she's operating on a higher intellectual plane than the rest of us, when in fact someone like Hailee Steinfeld has it on lock in a way that Miley will never be able to touch.

I do like the lilac swatch down the side. I thought I'd find it a touch too much, but it's beguiling on her. Oh, to have that much panache at my CURRENT age, much less when I was hers.

Taylor Swift in Reem Acra

A PATTERN. Not much of one, but it's something: It's not sparkly, it has flowers on it, and it almost looks like she pulled it out of a vintage store. BABY STEPS.

However, she probably should've told people it was vintage/"vintage," because in this lighting it looks like it cost $10 and smells like an attic. Better styling could've avoided that -- a louder, bigger bracelet, and funkier shoes. Because her HEAD looks really nice and that lipstick is perfect, so really, if she'd just attended to her limbs better we might have more happy things to say. Never forget your limbs, Fug Nation.

Taylor Swift

And the shoes are classic Twee Taylor, although maybe somebody told her she daren't show up to the premiere taller than the star of the movie. But I feel like Swifty should embrace her height and heel it up, because damn. How do you all feel about a return to the teeny heel?

Fug or Fab: Hailee and Swifty
Suddenly, Romeo and Juliet is premiering. I've been so focused on Fall TV that it's taking me by surprise that movies are still happening, as if that whole industry just politely steps aside for two weeks while we decide how we feel about The Blacklist. Anyway: Step into the batter's box, Hailee, and let's see if you can take our pitches. [poll id="11291"] [poll id="11301"] [Photos: Getty, Fame/Flynet]
