# Fug or Fab: Janelle Monae in Sass and Bide at the BET Awards

Her head is perfection; I recognize that the rest of the outfit might not be to everyone's satisfaction, but I personally think she is killing it in the way that only Janelle Monae can.

Outfitting oneself almost exclusively in black, white, or red is a quick way to get accused of being in a rut, but she always finds a way to make it intriguing. Belled sleeves AND pants are bold. Squabbling stripes are brave. Both at once, and in sequins to boot, is bananas. And yet all I know is, whatever she's refereeing -- an NFL game, arm-wrestling, two mice having a staring contest -- I will watch.
