I am torn here. To blazer, or not to blazer? It seems incredibly Madge Goes To Tuesday Bingo, but without it, I think that dress would have been even MORE all wrong. It's just hard to wear stark white when you are fair-skinned, and it's really hard to do it when you have on clunky hot-pink bridesmaid shoes. (There is no rhyme or reason to the latter, except that it's hard to do ANYTHING in clunky hot pink bridesmaid shoes other than be a bridesmaid, and even that is compromised, I'm sure.) In toto, this outfit reminds me of how depressed I felt during Pretty In Pink when Annie Potts started dating the yuppie so she put away all her bright wigs and crazy clothes and started wearing sensible jackets and a poofy Mom bob. Like we were supposed to be heartened by the fact that a tall block of wood was turning her into a PTA president. I liked her better when she let her freak flag fly.

I actually might not hate this...? The length might need tinkering with, but honestly, I'm not sure if I'd like it better shorter -- I'd just be so curious to see whether it worked or not. As-is, it's funky. The shoes play off of it without being matchy. And it doesn't make me think of Pretty In Pink... WAIT. It DOES. Because of how there's that breastplate on it, kind of like how Andie used the pink lace... oh, that DRESS. I think we can all agree this is a thousand times better than Andie's homemade Pepto Abysmol.

This is kind of cute TOO -- like Dita Von Teese without the ten pounds of makeup.

And THIS is the recent picture, where a cool dress -- although it does look like an '80s interior designer's inspiration board -- and a really cute purse are being sabotaged by bright red plastic-looking clogs. GIRL. Just as a cute shoe can be your best friend and most forgiving ally, the wrong shoe can be your archenemy who poisons your scotch.
