Jennifer Lawrence

I am not sure WHY it's not my thing. Possibly it's that I'm feeling a strange melange of influences: sea anemone, Red Fraggle, ice skating, cheerleader (or ice-skating cheerleader), Fourth of July. None of those are bad things, especially if the ice-skating cheerleader IS Red Fraggle, but I'm not sure it can be carried off without still being a touch more comical than chic. Having said THAT, Jennifer is doing it about as well as anyone can, I believe.

Everyone is calling this dress a home run. And from the back, I agree. I'm there. The unzipped motif is super sexy, and she makes me want to lock myself in my room and do pushups and lunges and things -- this girl is clearly very trim and fit without being an Iron Lady and/or self-denial, and I love it. BUT.

Jennifer Lawrence

I never found a shot of the front of the dress that I love as much. Firstly, she needs a boost -- either a bra or some cutlets or a boob-wrangler who walks around and cups them, or Josh Hutcherson's head (poor Weeta Mellark), or whatever. And it's okay to need that, because it means you have boobs, and boobs are great. They're even better if you take care of them. But that, plus the fact that this seems to stretch and pull around her in odd ways, is taking me out of the overall effect. It's like I complained with her gold dress -- this seems to move against her, not with her.

Fug or Fab: Jennifer Lawrence
It wasn't until the fourth Hunger Games event that Jennifer Lawrence went literal as the Girl On Fire. Well, okay, not literal. She did not show up on fire, and she did not -- to my knowledge -- pull a Cheno and catch her hair extensions aflame in a bathroom candle aflame while vomiting. So let's say she went symbolic. With the help of Marchesa, of course. Because if you ever want to look like a burning effigy of yourself, that's probably where you turn. The hilarious thing about this is, I decided to put it up to a vote because although it's dramatic, I'm not quite sure if it's my thing. And then I realized we'd featured this in our slideshow from the Fall 2012 runway show, at which time I said, "Pretty idea, but my guess is that when Ashley Greene or whoever wears this I will still put it up for a vote and then announce it's not my thing." HA. At least I'm consistent? [poll id="6941"] [poll id="6951"] [Photos: FameFlynet]
