This outfit, for instance, I think has a way higher opinion of its own interestingness than is actually accurate. Much like half the people we all knew in high school.

I love houndstooth, but what is that thing doing there? It's a necktie that has folded itself. That plus the cinched waist and the fact that the shirt hangs down so low... I don't think these things work that well together here.

And then the shirt, in addition to all the other stuff, also has tailfeathers? No.

However, Michael Sheen did show up in a velvet jacket, with a color scheme like a hot dog with fancy toppings -- you know, house ketchup and dijon mustard -- so that's exciting. I feel like, if I were at this party with them, I'd be wandering around all night going, "Why am I so HUNGRY? Oh, RIGHT."

This dress is much cuter. It all looks a lot more natural and the lines are more flattering. Her face is great, and the power of its awesomeness can save a lot of outfits from being TOTAL disasters because it tricks you into thinking they may have redeeming qualities. But sometimes you have to give your genes a little help, and I think here she is. Whereas in the other outfit, she was just getting needlessly complicated, and -- strange as it is to say about an outfit that fancied itself avant-garde -- kind of frumpy. Yeah, I said it, Outfit #1. DEAL WITH IT.
