Christian Siriano Spring/Summer 2014

That pose on the right side is making that dress look crazy abdominally unflattering. But I will say this: I want the purses. A lot.

That almost looks woven out of straw. In a cool way. I also love the shade of her lipstick.

I like that the background blooms upward into something different, but this set-up is way less effective to me, especially with the headpieces AND the very busy outfits AND the wall. It doesn't help that Model #1 looks INCREDIBLY bored by what Model #2 might be saying to her, which I imagine to be, "So, is a peplum the official opposite of a bare midriff?"

I like this one a LOT better. I think precisely because this one isn't trying to blend the clothes with the backdrop.

I think my main beef with these is that the models aren't great. But in this one, I also hate the dress. It SHOULD be beautiful but somehow it just looks sickly on her with all those healthy and colorful blossoms behind her. The whole campaign is a cool idea if it makes the clothes pop, but in this particular case, all I can think of is how much I prefer what's going on behind her.

This campaign reminds me of Intern George on the cover of W, and more recently, Lupita Nyong'o on New York. It's all very striking, but is it successful? [Photos: Christian Siriano]
