Is it weird that I might've liked this BETTER if she'd just worn the underskirt and not the granny overlay? Also, a dark pedicure might've made those shoes seem a little younger. I don't hate the blouse... The sum is not equal to this outfit's component parts, essentially.

Same shoes, very different outfit. She kind of looks like she's teaching a pan-flute class at American Apparel.

This maybe isn't awful? But I still feel like it's not one with her. I know that probably sounds dopey, but take Rihanna -- a lot of the crazy stuff she wears at least looks like it's her second skin, she seems comfortable, she's wearing it and not the other way around. No offense to Anna, but she just kinda seems like someone dropped this on her and asked her not to spill on it.

At least, for a change, this one has an above-the-knee hem. I do think my parents owned that couch at some point, though.

Okay, we're getting somewhere, I think... she's trying. The body still maybe doesn't quite look like it fits as well as it might, but there's some styling happening, for sure. I actually think she NEEDED to vamp it up a little for a change. It's my favorite of these looks, I think, mostly because I find she brings a strange stodgyness to most of what she wears even if the outfit itself isn't dowdy. Here is the closest she's seemed to a young, carefree babetrying to hold Hollywood in the palm of her hand. And not for nothing, those Oscars are feeling like an awfully long time ago right about now, so it's a good time to remind us all she's on the way up and not lost in the shuffle.
Translation: a good time for boobs.
