I love Scott Porter for making this face in this photo. He looks touched in the head.
In case you forgot, last season, George left poor Lemon at the alter and ran to declare his love for Zoe, who had just of the sex with Hot Neighbor Wade. We open THE DAY AFTER.

Torn between two lovers, feeling a fool, wearing a cute bralet and artful eyeliner.

Lemon's minions are obviously concerned about her in the wake of what Carl Winslow is calling ZoeGate. Polka Dots (whose name I can't remember. Cricket?) thinks Lemon should leave town and change her name. Anna Beth, because she ALSO has had a break up and isn't INSANE, just thinks she ought to go on a cruise. A SINGLES CRUISE. For her part, while I would advise Lemon to continue to take a nap on the sofa and wallow in her lemon-colored sweater, she has decided SHE LIKE THE SOUTH SHALL RISE AGAIN.

In case you were wondering, Lavon Hayes continues to be the Mayor, both of Bluebell and of Side-Eye.

He really wishes Zoe would get a girlfriend with whom to discuss her romantical issues, but when she asks him which leg of her love triangle she ought to embrace, he just advises her to be honest with both men. LIKE THAT EVER WORKS.

I also would like to note that I love the fact that Lavon Hayes wears classy monogrammed pajamas. I have similar jammies -- from J Crew! -- but mine are not monogrammed. I HAVE REGRETS.

Zoe decides to solve her romantic questions with breakfast, which actually sometimes works. I just had to include this slide because...is she wearing COWBOY BOOTS? Someone please explain what is happening on Dr Hart's feet for me.

Things don't go well when George finds out that Zoe nailed Wade. He's not as mad as this picture makes him look, which is only right given that, you know, she thought he was off getting married. In fact, George is actually quite charming and rather loveable about the whole thing. Which is not a SURPRISE, given that George has always been charming and loveable, but it is NICE that the show decided against going in the You Slutty Slutface I Can't Believe You Hooked Up With Someone When We Had A CONNECTION! direction wrt his reaction.

I love that Rachel Bilson is wearing leather formal shorts in this photo, and Jaime King is wearing what looks like someone's old prom dress. If only Lavon were wearing one of his jaunty hats.

Zoe pops over to ask HNW if he, like George, has feelings for her. This devolves into a conversation where he claims they had no CONNECTION, they just had really good sex, and she's never experienced that before (his theory). In short: she is honest with him, and he is kind of a cocky ass to her, which seems like a great step forward in their relationship in the sense that it is not at all. HNW is charming and funny and cute but he is the classic Cocky Sexy Bastard With Hidden Feelings who is swoony on TV but actually REALLY ANNOYING in real life because Hidden Feelings are a pain in the ass.

The aftermath of this wedding is like the aftermath of a hurricane, probably because there actually was also a hurricane, which I forgot because...I don't know. I put a lot of new information in my head between the end of last season and the beginning of the new one, like what every 2012 Olympic swimmers' abs look like. I only included this post because I can not even deal with how cute Lavon Hayes looks in a tool belt. I kind of am in love with Lavon Hayes.

Golden Brooks has joined the show -- for a while, I hope, because I like her a lot -- as Ruby, a character who is friendly to Zoe, mean-ish to Lemon, and who used to date Lavon (and may again). She is also a character with cute taste in jackets. Also, did you know that Golden Brooks has a bachelor's degree from Berkeley and a master's from Sarah Lawrence and baby with hot hot hot DB Woodside? I want to be Golden Brooks.

HNW continues to claim he doesn't want to have any kind of relationship with Zoe and I don't think we're supposed to believe him, but frankly, as much as I love HNW, I kind of am holding out for Zoe to hook up with Justin Hartley anyway. Even if he IS on Emily Owens, MD. That's not going to last! Also: can we talk about how HNW's makeup is weirdly red and he looks like he's in the middle of an allergic reaction, and his hair is kind of odd in this episode? Has the hair and makeup team gotten some misguided advice to de-hot him? I AM NOT OKAY WITH THAT.

This shirt is getting a lot of action, given that Emily also wore it on this week's REVENGE.

Golden Brooks came over to drink wine with Zoe and advise her on her romantic issues and wear one of Chico's finest tunic tops and have a long convo with Lavon about how he left for college and NEVER CALLED HER again and he seemed apologetic and they are TOTALLY going to hook up again.

George and HNW agreed that no matter who Zoe picks, they're always going to be friends. HOW DID THAT WORK OUT FOR DYLAN AND BRANDON, YOU GUYS?

Oh, right, Lemon. Lemon is having a stress breakdown over the whole Called Off the Wedding thing, given that she has NO life back-up plan and no career aspirations and has never lived on her own and is basically a 50s housewife without the husband or the house. She put on this super cute little jacket to return this dangerous-looking cake knife, but ended up walking over to Zoe's to get treatment for her heart attack (which is really a panic attack), which of course all leads to the entire town thinking she took Zoe hostage in a jealous rage. Which is pretty hilarious.

Lavon WOULD put on a classy jacket for a hostage crisis.

And HNW and George WOULD end up wrestling at some point in this episode.

SPOILER: Lemon didn't rip Zoe to shreds with her cake knife, and they in fact came to a kind of semi-friendly detente about the whole George Marriage Break-Up thing. Also: Zoe's sweater is super cute.

I almost forgot to include a shot of Tim Matheson. He directed this episode! Also: Lemon got a job as a waitress at the Rammer Jammer, which makes me think they fired Purposefully Kooky Waitress, which was probably a good call. Lemon working for HNW will be hilarious. Not for nothing, that is also a cute tank top.

Also cute: Ruby's dress.

ALSO also cute: Lavon's hat. These two are so going to hook up again. I approve. Although I love him with Lemon. So now I am torn again. This show is really good at the love triangle, you guys.

Rachel Bilson looks awesome in this leather jacket/dress, which is wise because when you are the apex of a love triangle and you decide to go all I Choose Me -- which is essentially what she did -- it's best to look like a sexy bad-ass.

The good news, though, is that apparently Choosing One's Self does not preclude getting naked with your hot neighbor. Hey, he said he didn't want a relationship. And she told George they can't be together until he's in a place where she's not his rebound. In other words: HNW, take off your shirt.
