I think part of the reason this episode didn't really light my face on fire with glee is that I think Rachel Bilson is only passably believable as a doctor, and any plots that revolve around her intense desire to practice medicine fall a wee bit flat. And the entire A plot of this episode is Getting Zoe Back Into Brick's Medical Practice. Spoiler: she's back, as an associate, not a partner. THE END. See ya next week. ## Belles! ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/img_3364.xml) The B plot is that Cricket is -- like Lemon before her -- ruling the Belles with an iron fist, and Lemon hates it (and thinks she's terrible at it, which is sort of accurate). Jaime King's Pregnancy Disguise 24: The Return of The Tea Pot. I will note that Jaime King is very funny in this episode, and perhaps the bright spot. ## Brick! ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/irritated-brick.xml) Tim Matheson continues this season's trend of only showing up to rage at someone -- this time, at Joel Who Everyone Hates Except Me and Heather, because he is sure Zoe is practicing medicine behind his back, flouting their $350k non-compete agreement. ## Frank? ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/img_3366.xml) To prove it, he's hired Frank Who Runs The Dixie Stop as his PI, because apparently Frank is a PI like 2 hours a week. I must admit that as much as the visuals for this particular storyline are really funny, this did not particularly hold together for me. I love the quirky tertiary characters of BlueBell, but you can't just suddenly make one of them a PI just because you think it would be funny if the most mentally challenged person in town was a part-time detective. I CAN see someone we haven't seen much of being a PI secretly -- like Cricket's Ambiguously Gay Husband would have made a hilarious PI, and we have no idea what that dude is doing all the time -- but this just felt out of left field. ## Lavon! ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/img_3371.xml) Lavon is distraught: Hated Neighboring Town Fillmore is possibly getting a minor league baseball team and HE wants it. Luckily -- sort of, as this plotline is also kind of boring, and I say that as someone who LIKES baseball -- Brick knows "Cameron Lynch," the owner of said minor league team. Cue a long plotline where it turns out Cam Lynch is not a dude but an annoying woman Brick has been attempting to avoid since college. Sadly, she is not amusingly annoying, just sort of sad and needy? I don't know. Why am I so cranky about this episode? ## PASTRY! ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/img_3374.xml) Two things I need to point out: PASTRY and also Zoe is wearing LEATHER SHORTS. ALL HAIL THE RETURN OF PASTRY AND LEATHER SHORTS. ## Hair ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/img_3380.xml) NO ONE hail the continued dominance of George's horrible 80s prepster hair. ## Spies! ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/img_3383.xml) As much as I felt like this whole plotline was obviously just moving pieces so we could get Zoe back to her job, THIS sort of thing is never not funny. ## MORE PASTRY ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/img_3384.xml) And I sincerely appreciate and applaud the vast amounts of pastry consumed and distributed within this episode. Also, Lavon's pants. ## Lynly ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/img_3386.xml) So, remember how George is tutoring Lynly for her LSATs? You may wonder why Lemon is dressed like a French person, missing only a baguette clenched between her teeth, and it's because she and AB are starting an uprising against Cricket's reign of terror. "THE RESISTANCE!" she announces. She even has revolutionary cheese at this meeting, and that's why I love Lemon. ## The Enemy! ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/img_3398.xml) However, she forgot to lock the door, and in barges Cricket and her henchmen and of course Lemon is in deep now, for treason, and the Belles' by-laws demand that she make a series of humiliating, cleaning-related reparations. ## ??? ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/img_3403.xml) Jaime King's Pregnancy Disguise 27: I literally don't even know what this is. ## Awkward ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/img_3405.xml) Lynly decides to pose sexily for George on his bed in her lingerie and of course when he walks in, he screams and she screams, and it's awkward and she tried to put her dress back on and she can't get it zipped so he tries to help annnnd: ## OW ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/ow.xml) ...gets his handed zipped into it, a la the opening scene of *There's Something About Mary*, with somewhat less sensitive skin involved. I do appreciate anything that allows Scott Porter to trot out his comedic facial expressions of pain. ## B&B! ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/img_3413.xml) You'll be relieved to know that Joel and Zoe have moved into the nice B&B -- I guess Carl Winslow isn't mad at her anymore, after watching Joel choke on a crab cake last week, or something. This is the part of the recap where I continue to wonder, if they've moved back to town, why they haven't gotten an apartment and WHY NO ONE HAS GONE BACK TO NYC FOR THE REST OF THEIR STUFF. ## Outfits! ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/img_3414.xml) That being said, Zoe -- here, being summoned by George to fix his hand (he can't call Brick, since Brick is with Lavon and Lavon will kill him if he finds out George has broken Lynly's heart in any way) -- is wearing a very cute dress. ## Wade! ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/img_3417.xml) Wade is helping Joel distract Brick and Frank from noticing Zoe doing any doctoring, but mostly he did nothing this episode but look cute and wear plaid. Which is fine. But I am not okay with Wade not having very much to do in general. Last season's Emotional Redemption of Wade was REALLY GOOD and I hope we get back to more of his inner life. Wilson Bethel is a surprisingly good actor. ## Cleaning ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/img_3421.xml) Jaime King's Pregnancy Disguise 28: Cleaning supplies. AB quits along with her. And here, I have to note that the Pregnancy Disguises irk me for the first time ever, because I want to see the rest of AB's dress. I suspect it's cute! This is also really, really good hair on her. ANYWAY, while that's obviously the most important fact of note, I predict that AB and Lemon are going to start their own women's group and thus there will be warring intra-town ladies societies, which is probably going to be funny. This episode was kind of just moving pieces into place to set up other plotlines, right? ## Smooch! ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/img_3438.xml) And this is still happening. (Zoe's happy that Wade and Joel teamed up to help her get her doctor on and thereby quasi-assisted in her getting back into Brick's practice.) Let's talk about Joel: I like the actor and I really like that they clearly have a very solid relationship, but I get why he's not totally clicking as a romantic lead for the rest of you. I hope they don't feed him to Burt Reynolds. [Fug the Show: Hart of Dixie recap, episode 303In which we learn it's hard to follow an episode where the entire town learns that Meatball and Lemon are making some kind of unholy fusion cuisine in bed. In other words: this was not my favorite episode of the new season.
