## Snugglesville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/img_9867-1024x768.xml)

Juliette is hiding out from the world, because she's getting yanked from country radio and everyone thinks she's a big ol' ho. She and Avery are great together, because he respects her and encourages her but doesn't pander to her nor overinflate her, which is exactly what she needs. So he tries to talk her out of her self-imposed exile, but she's not ready, and he's like, "Okay, that's fine, gotta go, work to do." There's also a funny bit where Deacon shows up to ask Avery to produce his album at the Blue Bird, and Juliette hides under the covers and then under the bed so that he won't see her. And it's times like this when I remember she and Deacon slept together a bunch and I get squicked out.

## Videoville

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2014/02/IMG_9869-1024x768.jpg)

This show needs to stop doing things that look inexpensive. Such as Rayna's music video for "Sweet Side," where there's a laser light show happening behind her that looks like they stole it from a small-town planetarium.

## Yikesville

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2014/02/IMG_9871-1024x768.jpg)

I don't even know. This thing looks like Rayna spent $5 on it. Highway 65's slogan should be, "Take us; we're the shortcut." Also, if you're going to put Rayna in a dress FINALLY and have her sing with her legs on, so to speak, then please give her a GOOD DRESS and not one that makes it look like her chest is sliding off slowly.

## Broville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/img_9873-1024x768.xml)

Will's album is dropping opposite Rayna's on May 1, and he can't find a new single that he likes, because he's cranky, and also, they all came from Brent, and he doesn't want to do anything right now that satisfies Brent in any way. He's forgetting that he can sublimate all that INTO his work and then the two of them can climax through success on the Billboard charts. So short-sighted. Gunnar offers Will a song that is basically an ode to that time Will tried to kill himself because, and I quote Will here, "I'M DISGUSTINGGGGGG." It's too close to home, though, so Will rejects it. Noisily. He is so tantrum-prone. He'd better get to the sublimation thing smart-quick.

## Straightville

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2014/02/IMG_9875-1024x768.jpg)

Zoey has straightened her hair, and everyone acts like this is the most glorious thing a person can do. I get that they're just reacting to change, but seriously, don't be an anti-curlite, y'all. Her curly hair is fantastic. ANYWAY: The problem with this actress, who is SO pretty and has a lovely singing voice, is that she is this show's [Lynly](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/fug-the-show-hart-of-dixie-season-3-episode-11-01-2014/). Except instead of Crazy Eyes, she has Murder Eyes. Every scene she's in, I am concerned she is secretly plotting a beheading, even the romantic ones.

## Bummerville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/img_9889-1024x768.xml)

So, everyone has something big going on in their lives except Murder Eyes, so to quell her impulse to kill, she tries becoming a backup singer. But she doesn't have a demo or a head shot, so she gets turned away, and then acts like this is a hurdle she cannot possibly clear. Which is INSANE. Have someone take your freaking picture. You have friends with access to recording equipment. Sing some shit. Stop feeling sorry for yourself for failing, when YOU HAVEN'T EVEN REALLY TRIED YET.

## Highville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/img_9878-1024x768.xml)

Scarlett comes home after another all-nighter in the studio with Liam, and she's kind of hyped up and insists she can't sleep because she's leaking songs and needs to write them down and work is great and everything is awesome and of COURSE she'll come to Deacon's show and YOU ARE SO PRECIOUS TO ME. Deacon is not the greatest uncle, because he notices that she's acting a little strangely, and if we know at this point that Scarlett's mother is bipolar, this ought to ring some alarm bells. They'd be the wrong alarm bells, but at least SOMETHING would be ringing, you know? He should be asking Rayna to check in, or something. Also, Rayna should be checking in or something, because COME ON.

## Freedomville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/img_9880-1024x768.xml)

Powers Boothe is home. Tandy, despite promising Rayna she'd act like a normal human being, can't stand to look at him or be around him because she feels guilt and revulsion and fear, mixed with being unable to reconcile her filial love for him with his hideous behavior. Whereas Rayna is just like, "Yay, he's home, we're TOTALLY cool with each other now!"

## Trioville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/img_9884-1024x768.xml)

This was nice, though -- the girls sing a duet for Powers, and Rayna joins in on it near the end, and it's quite lovely, and the expression on Connie Britton's face here is just one of a few really great ones that various people sport in this episode. It just seems so genuine, and it probably IS genuine.

## Boredville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/img_9894-1024x768.xml)

I love this shot -- Juliette is trying to watch all of Avery's foreign films and finding many of them off-putting or hard to digest. But she's totally in Standard Bumming Around Clothes, which I respect. It's relatable. Nobody needs to accessorize their depression.

## Domesticville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/img_9908-1024x768.xml)

Hilariously, Juliette has spent her days ordering Avery new furniture and herself an apron. He is underwhelmed with her putting girly decor everywhere, which leads to the awesomeness of a wounded Juliette stomping off in a huff: "The PILLOWS are UNISEX!!!!!"

## Truthville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/img_9896-1024x768.xml)

Tandy gets a haircut. They make a point of mentioning it. Congrats, Tandy. Can you take Scarlett with you next time? Anyhoo: TEDDY tells Rayna that Tandy turned in Powers Boothe, AND that he thinks Powers Boothe had Peggy murdered because he mistakenly thought TEDDY was the guilty party. So now TANDY -- so many T-Y names here -- informs Rayna that she was led to believe Powers Boothe had their mother murdered, and that she turned him over to the feds out of spite, then hands over the police file that her PI dug up about it. Rayna is not that excited that someone spilled truth all over her cornflakes.

## Nefariousville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/img_9901-1024x768.xml)

After Brent and Will squabble and Brent handles it TOTALLY professionally, Gunnar tells Will that anyone with eyeballs and ears can read the tension there. So Will handles it the mature way: telling Oliver Hudson that Brent makes him uncomfortable and letting the implications speak for themselves. Oliver Hudson never met a douchebag he didn't strap on, so he accepts this challenge and then FIRES ADORABLE BRENT. NOT GOOD, BOB.

## Jerkville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/img_9905-1024x768.xml)

Deacon finds Megan consoling Teddy, who really IS leaning on her in a co-dependent way, a little, because she's nice and she's sympathetic and he has nobody else to talk to about this. Maybe he should keep a diary. Anyway, you can imagine that Deacon doesn't react well to this show of intimacy, because it's Teddy, and so he accuses Megan of having a savior complex. I don't like Deacon's temper. Then again, it actually adds up to how he becomes when he's drunk, so finally THAT piece of the puzzle makes sense, even if it's retroactive.

## Laylaville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/img_9913-1024x768.xml)

Hey, remember her? She had about four lines in this entire episode. They have her here just so they can boot her out the door right after she finds out Adorable Brent is out of a job. I ASSUMED that was so she could come back, having forgotten her sunglasses or her Luna Bars, and overhear them having an obvious Lovers' Quarrel. But that doesn't happen. Instead, Brent goes out in a blaze of gentle class, telling Will sternly that he'll be fine but he suspects Will won't be. This is true.

## Drugsville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/img_9914-1024x768.xml)

And then David gets stuck doing SO MANY night shifts at the radio station that he keeps buying meth from the station manager and it's REALLY messing him up. y'all. Seriously, Scarlett doesn't have a Dylan McKay in her life to flush the drugs. WHAT WILL SHE DO. And this is Liam's prescription, which she purloined without him knowing. Why didn't he notice? Well, he will soon enough, when she begs him for more.

## Horrorville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/img_9916-1024x768.xml)

Seriously, I get such a kick out of this. I don't really like them making Juliette outright DUMB -- certainly she would know the difference between French and Italian, although they pretend otherwise here, and I don't believe it nor care for it -- but her trying to absorb herself in his interests as an escape from her own life is leading to some funny facial expressions, and good interplay. You will be relieved to know Avery convinces her to leave the house, and she joins him at Deacon's show and they try to be subtle but Deacon notices what's happening and is like, "Hmm, I like this," which is nice in a fatherly way. Except for how he's seen her naked. Still creeping me out.

## Fillerville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/img_9923-1024x768.xml)

This scene was annoying. Zoey tells Gunnar she's bummed out that she got out of her small town where she was doing nothing, only to land in a BIG town where she's doing nothing. His response is actually to tell her, basically, that she should suck it up because she's waitressing at a really legendary place and other people would kill for that job. Finally, he tells her -- and it comes off grudging in the dialogue, although Sam Palladio tries to sell it more kindly -- that if she ACTUALLY decides she's really unhappy with having a boyfriend and slinging cocktails IF YOU CAN IMAGINE THAT, he'll support her. How kind of you, G.

Her response to this: She goes to get a head shot and record herself singing. EXCEPT NOT. Instead, she goes back to the audition where she was scolded for having no demo and head shot, and tells the woman, "Well, I don't have any of that, but here is a CD of me singing in Church and I'M A REALLY GOOD SINGER." I mean, get in line, kid. You need what you need. Not that the woman tells her that, but she should have.

## Videoville

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2014/02/IMG_9925-1024x768.jpg)

Scarlett shows up to shoot a portion of Rayna's video and she looks TERRIBLE, and even Bucky is like, "Whoa." So she just pops a pill and then she's FULL OF ENERGY and they're all so pleased with how she's doing. She DOES look pretty, but what is this video about, anyway? Why is Scarlett there acting like a temptress?

## WHOAville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/img_9928-1024x768.xml)

And then she shows up to Deacon's show and she's SUPER WIRED and she wants a tequila and some junk food and wow Zoey your hair looks great and hey Avery and Juliette don't you both look awesome and life is so exciting right now thanks very much woooooooo. Zoey gives her strange looks but does nothing. Everyone's so effectual right now.

## Loveville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/img_9929-1024x768.xml)

Deacon was in a foul mood, so Avery told him to FIX THE HELL OUT OF IT, and he does: He apologizes to Megan, but she quit her case anyway and told Teddy she can't be there for him. (He was a sad clown about it, of course.) And Deacon then sings a love song he wrote for her, with a wonderful dedication, and I just loved this look on Christina Chang's face. Sometimes little moments like this go unnoticed because they're warm, not showy, and I didn't want to let this one pass without credit.

## DRAMAville

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2014/02/IMG_9931-1024x768.jpg)

Rayna and her see-through sleeves are VERY ANGRY with Powers Boothe: She's mad that he lied, and worse, she thinks he had Peggy killed. He starts to deny it, but she calls him out on whether his henchman arranged it, and basically tells him she wants the truth. He says nothing, so she spits that as far as she's concerned BOTH her parents are dead DEAD DO YOUR HEAR ME DEAD.

## Confessionville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/img_9920-1024x768.xml)

Powers Boothe is very good in this scene. He haltingly confesses to Rayna that, yes, he lied about his whereabouts the night his wife died. But it was because he chased her out of the house, and the faster she went, the faster he went, until she lost control and went over an embankment. He said he went down to save her but she was already dead, and he panicked about how it would look -- why was he driving behind her, why were they going so fast, etc. -- and he fled. It SOUNDS like he's telling the truth. What's weird is that the show made a point of having Rayna tell Tandy how fragile he looks, and that he's lost a lot of weight from being in prison, and yet Powers Boothe himself looks exactly the same. So why bother with that line of dialogue?

## Sadville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/img_9932-1024x768.xml)

Will, sitting alone, starts playing Gunnar's song. It's amazing. Chris Carmack pours his heart into this thing, and it's SO affecting. Well done, sir. And Gunnar overhears, and lavishes praise on it, and Will snaps, "You're the ONLY person who will ever hear that," and storms off, because he's still Troubled. Oh, Will. You're breaking my heart. Part of me is impatient that he isn't coming around, and the rest of me understands that of COURSE he's taking a long time and actually it's very patient of the show to let this percolate the way it would be in real life.

## Deadville?

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/img_9936-1024x768.xml)

Her wish is the universe's command, potentially: We have ANOTHER episode in which Powers Boothe has a heart attack at the end. This time, though, he's in Teddy's office, and Teddy has just sworn MORTAL REVENGE on Powers for Peggy's death, AND told Powers that Tandy was his betrayor. So when Powers clutches at his chest and drops, and begs Teddy to plug his power booth back in again, Teddy just stares at him. And it'd be more effective if I didn't feel like I'd just seen this someplace else. Like that time on Homeland when Brody did a bunch of stuff with a BlackBerry that you can't do with a BlackBerry and then made the Veep's pacemaker go boom. I'm probably forgetting plenty more instances of someone trying to decide whether to call for help for their addled enemy (it FEELS like something that would have happened to Dan Scott, doesn't it? but I think I'm forgetting another example, and no, I'm not thinking of Breaking Bad), but the point is that I surprisingly don't care about this twist at all. And I'm ALMOST bummed about it because I've been bored enough by Teddy and Peggy that I'm almost rooting for Powers Boothe at this point to LIVE and hook up with Zoey (not really) and indulge their MURDER FACES (really)(well, sort of)(maybe not). We'll see what happens, but my guess is they won't have two major characters die so close together, and force Rayna to tell her kids that their grandfather AND their father are both effectively killers. Again: WE'LL SEE. (I watch this on Hulu so I don't get the teasers.)

[Fug the Show: Nashville recap, season 2, episode 14There's some great acting in this hour, and Juliette and Avery are adorable together, and then there's a twist that's so thoroughly borrowed from elsewhere that it should be charged late fees.![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/img_9867-1024x768.xml)](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/fug-the-show-nashville-episode-2-14-02-2014/)
