## Suspiciousville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/nashvilles2ep16-1.xml)

Okay, I'm sure I'm projecting, because I like a little soap in my soap. But Luke Wheeler is being SUPER dreamy and supportive to Rayna... while also constantly pushing her about how bad things REALLY are financially at Highway 65 and whether he can give her money and stuff. The part of me that likes nice people thinks this is great, but the part of me that wants Rayna to struggle and have to do interesting things, and wants Luke to have shades of grey, wonders if we'll find out later that he's a mole for Oliver Hudson here. The thing is, I don't know if that makes any sense because he mouthed off to Oliver about Rayna in a different episode, when it was just the two of them, so I'm not sure when exactly his allegiances would've shifted. NEVER MIND.

## Hairville

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2014/03/nashvilles2ep16.2.jpg)

Juliette's still rocking the loose wave/bedhead thing, and it's great and she should keep it. She's also receiving offers from every record company in the world, including Edgehill, because the music industry is crazy fickle and nobody cares anymore whether or not she likes God.

## Crabbyville

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2014/03/nashvilles2ep16.4.jpg)

Rayna looks like this for much of the episode: cranky and cringeing and kind of cold. She missed out on an artist she wanted because her checks are bouncing all over town -- and not, strangely, because she has taken eleven years to PICK ONE JUST PICK ONE. Turns out Tandy, surprise surprise, is a terrible CFO, which CLERALY nobody could have predicted even though she was tied to all Powers Boothe's shady dealings. Tandy eventually has to beg for mercy, even though Rayna is seriously over how jacked her branches of the family tree are.

## Thudville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/nashvilles2ep16-6.xml)

Layla returns from LA injust as Will's song comes on the radio during a party, and is named Most Requested on the station. Everyone freaks out and then a friend reminds Will that sometimes people celebrate these things by shagging their girlfriend. So he does, and it's completely unfulfilling for either of them, and Layla exposes herself as totally unable to read social cues because that dude? The one who just took you briefly in his bedroom and now looks like he'd rather bury his face in a Calculus textbook? That's a bad sign.

## Bustedville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/nashvilles2ep16-7.xml)

These two are making both drippy music and drippy love. I liked the idea of them together but Scarlett's knob is turned down to four right now and it's so dreary. I don't even know if we're supposed to think she's still strung out on pills. I THINK so? She's obviously OFF, for sure. Although Rayna and Luke walk in while she's ON... in the sense of being on top of Liam.

## Lectureville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/nashvilles2ep16-8.xml)

Rayna's reaction to this is to suss out that Scarlett is developing feelings, or thinks she is, and also doesn't know if she can connect with another producer. But Rayna doesn't really offer any help except to say they'll figure out how to get this album done. Rayna is a terrible mentor. She hasn't noticed that Scarlett has been in a fog the entire time she's been on that label, she's TOTALLY oblivious to how she's walking around like an open wound right now, and she knows Scarlett has addiction and mental health issues in the family -- one would think, as she's Deacon's niece, and theoretically maybe Deacon once told Rayna that he had a sister with Problems -- and her advice is basically to pat her on the knee and be like, "Understandable! We'll still make your album." Not helpful, Bob.

## Coatville

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2014/03/nashvilles2ep16.20.jpg)

Sad, fired Liam tries to leave town without even telling Scarlett, and so she shows up to see him dressed in her best-ever coat and a hat, like she's an adorable French urchin, and he is like, "Adieu, baby, it was just work passion," and leaves. He seems not totally CONVINCED by that, but maybe that's just wishful thinking because I like cocky, semi-skanky Liam, and I kind of like the idea of Scarlett having a torrid drug-fueled affair with him that lasts longer than half an episode.

## Pantsville

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2014/03/nashvilles2ep16.28.jpg)

You need to know that Rayna is into the higher-rise boot-cut jeans right now. Which is not Connie Britton's strength. I mean, it's not like she has WEAKNESSES, but MAN, can she wear a pair of skinnies. There is no reason she and Brenda Strong (Dallas) shouldn't spend all their down time in fabulous pants and boots.

## Dinnerville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/nashvilles2ep16-12.xml)

Avery takes Juliette on a date, and she starts ordering expensive food and booze, figuring she's happy to pick up the tab. He gets a little testy about that, which... I mean, I guess that's realistic, but I kind of feel like BOTH these people are beyond that at this point. Avery can't get too worked up, though, because what REALLY happens in this scene is that Oliver Hudson sends them a $10,000 bottle of Champagne and Juliette walks it back over to his table and plonks it down and pops the cork on it so that it all hits the floor. It's symbolic in some fun ways and some funnilly filthy ways, and also just satisfying to see that guy have to bathe in his own ten grand.

## Portraitville

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2014/03/nashvilles2ep16.25.jpg)

So, awesomely, they do a scene in which Luke Wheeler and Rayna are canoodling and he's SUPER freaked out by the two MASSIVE portraits of her daughters watching over them as they booty down. Rayna really dumbly points out that her ACTUAL daughters are not watching (NO KIDDING) and is like, "But they're ART." Yes, but they're creepy like dolls, Rayna. THEY SEE EVERYTHING. It's nice to love your kids but do they need to be hovering over your bed? No wonder her sex life with Teddy ground to a depressing halt.

## Byeville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/nashvilles2ep16-19.xml)

It turns out Layla's L.A. trip was a disaster, her single is tanking, they didn't let her sing on the "American Hitmaker" show she came out of, and she's scared. Will does whatever he can to pimp Layla's single during his own press tours, because he feels bad that she's struggling and that he can't even fake an interest in her ladybits anymore. But it doesn't work; Oliver Hudson dumps her from his label, and now Will has a girlfriend who weeps that he's all she has and he's the only one who cares.

## Sadsville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/nashvilles2ep16-26.xml)

For good measure, we're treated to one more scene later of Layla essentially apologizing for not satisfying Will and then admitting she was saving herself for marriage until him -- which feels a bit like a retread of how those scenes were actually WRITTEN, as she was pretty aggressive with him in a way that did not suggest it was his magnetic charms that wooed her out of her chastity belt. I hope it turns out she's only saying all this to manipulate him somehow. Anyway, Will coos that she's wonderful and he just wants a beer, some TV, and a snuggle. And he obviously wants her to be happy but feels increasingly guilty that he has no long-term interest in her. She even starts to call Brent/Brett/whatever to ask for advice with Oliver Hudson, and Will is like, "NO WHAT THAT GUY WHY DON'T DO THAT STOP." Will is a mess.

## Trioville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/nashvilles2ep16-21.xml)

So, the subplot with them is that Gunnar is hyped up about their band and Avery thinks he's being too aggressive, and gets SO blase about rehearsals and gigs and things that Gunnar throws Juliette's purse strings in Avery's face, and they come to blows. But then they go on stage and do a REALLY good song and sound GREAT (although I never feel like I can hear Zoey very clearly in the final mix), and The Power of Music brings them all back together as friends. Maybe the U.N. should try that? I had always been told it was the Power of Love, but maybe one Mr. Huey Lewis only knew part of the story.

## Temptationville

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2014/03/nashvilles2ep16.16.jpg)

When Oliver Hudson comes by Juliette's house to discuss the Edgehill offer, he sweetens the pot with $250,000 for Avery to produce at her own small imprint. She is very tempted, although maybe that's just the fact that her pants are awkwardly wringing out her abdomen (her blouse is cute, though). She is also enjoying being in the catbird's seat and making him grovel, as would anyone right-thinking. I wish she'd made him eat the Champagne off the floor of the restaurant.

## Tenseville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/nashvilles2ep16-17.xml)

Juliette accepts the deal because of Avery, though, because Oliver Hudson correctly identified her Achilles heel. Avery isn't excited; he's pissed that she did it at all, because Oliver Hudson is gross, but he's doubly mad she said yes to HIS portion without asking him if HE wanted to be part of that. The two of them get a little testy about it, and so Juliette has his portions of the deal stricken and signs it... then shreds it because she figures Avery wouldn't respect her for going back into the ass's den, and neither would she. They make up. I hope this is as far as we need to go with their relationship strife and his whole "I NEED TO PROVIDE" argument. I mean, yeah, don't order lobster on your date, Juliette, but also, Avery, maybe don't take her on a date someplace that has food you can't afford for her to order. There's a reason chains like Chili's generally thrive in college towns.

## FINALLYville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/nashvilles2ep16-29.xml)

BUT THEN: Juliette goes to Rayna and tells her that she needs a label that believes in her bravery, and the things she has to say, and would Rayna be okay with being that label? And Rayna gets dollar signs in her eyes and opens her mouth and a cash register drawer shoots out of it as horns sound AHOOOOOGA.

Rayna should fire Bucky for not suggesting this, and then also remove herself from her own company. It is THE DUMBEST THING IN THE WORLD that Rayna didn't offer this herself, and that it never occurred to either her or Bucky to be like, "Huh, MAJOR recording artist without a label..." Juliette should not have had to suggest this. Rayna should've thought of it, pitched it to her only semi-seriously, and then been surprised when Juliette came to her now to say that she thinks it's the right fit. Instead, Juliette prostrates herself a little. But I don't care as long as it works, and I think anything that puts Juliette and Rayna in each other's story orbits OUGHT to, so YAY.

## Partyville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/nashvilles2ep16-9.xml)

Deacon is on the road with his band, and a) he tweaks his hand and has to keep jamming it in buckets of ice, and b) he's tempted to take a drink to deal with it all. I am impressed the show remembered he HAS a bum hand. It does remember that he shouldn't drink, though, and so he doesn't. This is why motels have cable, Deacon. Or even certain movies. Take advantage of the ONE amenity you are afforded.

## Bummerville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/nashvilles2ep16-13.xml)

Teddy is busy rolling around in the sweat of his own self-pity. He was going through Peggy's purses before giving them away, and he found some pills, and yada yada yada he figured out from her doctors -- FINALLY, after she's dead, he wants to talk to her doctors about her traumatic miscarriage? -- that she miscarried before they got married. He calls Megan for a nice sniveling session, in which he notes that he'd have married her even with the early miscarriage, but that the LIAR part of her is something he can't handle; she drives him to a scenic overlook that gave her peace when her husband died, even though Peggy was essentially SHOT high on a hill with a view of Nashville, so maybe this wasn't really all that sensitive, eh, Megan?

## Palville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/nashvilles2ep16-14.xml)

Deacon has another tough night so he calls Megan for comfort, but she's pretty busy. So he goes to an AA meeting on the road and bumps into someone who is decidedly NOT in the real of the second A: an old backup singer from Back In The Day, played by Charlotte Ross, all kind eyes and rosy cheeks and country bangs. They have a grand old time together all day marinating in memories, and at the end of it she gently wonders if he'd like to come find her after his show. Deacon kindly says he can't, because he has a lady waiting for him at home...

## Bangville

![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/nashvilles2ep16-22.xml)

... if by that you mean having sex with Teddy in the backseat of her own car. I guess that scenic outlook had Teddy overcome with something else. And Megan is having a lot more fun than I feel like most tall people do when they're jammed up in the backseat of a sedan trying to have sex without noticeable wounds.

[Fug the Show: Nashville recap, season 2, episode 16My new favorite band is Gunnar, Avery, and Zoey, and if this show goes off the air at any point then those actors need to hit the road together.![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/nashvilles2ep16-1.xml)](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/fug-the-show-nashville-recap-season-3-episode-16-03-2014/)
