That punctuation is so purposeful. I always tell Jessica that I know she's having a bad day when she punctuates her short IMs -- like, a casual "okay" versus a more forceful "okay." with that period. This shirt is a cranky IM. ## Spencer and Emily ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/pretty_little_liars_s04e07_kissthemgoodbye_net_0057.xml) These three are trying to help Hanna feel better about her mother being in jail, although if you ask me, the most helpful thing Spencer could do is loan Hanna her sweater so that the poor girl has armpit ventilation during the trial. ## Caleb and Toby ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/pretty_little_liars_s04e07_kissthemgoodbye_net_0099.xml) The Hardly Boys (I feel like I need to point out that I did that on purpose, because people usually assume my puns are typos, which may say something about their quality) have decided to piece together everything they know about anything, which basically fits into a thimble, which is too bad considering Toby was on the A Team for a while. Basically, they're the audience proxies, and the writers are like, "Okay, how can we rehash some of this stuff without it being awkward..." ## Evidence board! ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/pretty_little_liars_s04e07_kissthemgoodbye_net_0102.xml) And so we dive into our SECOND evidence board of the season, the first one being in the police station. MORE EVIDENCE BOARDS. This is seriously the only way to keep track of anything. They probably lifted all of them straight from the writers' rooms. I might make one for my house. ## Aria and Mike ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/pretty_little_liars_s04e07_kissthemgoodbye_net_0172.xml) Aria is nervous that Awful Mike hit Dorkus Mallorcus's car with a baseball bat; Awful Mike insists he did not, and silently wonders why her dress's torso looks so much like a leotard. ## Sydney ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/pretty_little_liars_s04e07_kissthemgoodbye_net_0208.xml) As Jessica pointed out, it just feels RIGHT to see Sydney Andrews back in a prison jumpsuit. Like destiny is doing a figure eight and prison is the equator it keeps crossing. ## Folder ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/pretty_little_liars_s04e07_kissthemgoodbye_net_0278.xml) Caleb finds Toby's Radley file, with all kinds of notes about his mother, like "AFRAID" and "ROOF," and all he notices is the Post-It that says, "BLONDE GIRL." I have questions: First, why did Toby make any of those notes? None of those things are hard to remember. Second, why didn't he put his Post-It inside the file, where no one could read it? Third, why did Caleb not find this more interesting, and instead allow Toby to hide it from him while muttering things about how it was nothing? And finally, why does every character, including A, write in the exact same block letter handwriting? ## Emily, Hanna, Fitz ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/pretty_little_liars_s04e07_kissthemgoodbye_net_0314.xml) Everyone is laughing at Hanna because her mother is on death row and she's totally stopped accessorizing, so Emily gets crabby. And Fitz gets... watchy. Seriously, he's so ineffectual. Last week he just watched while the boys in the locker room called Aria a slut, and this week, he watches as people snicker at Hanna. He's a looker in many ways. ## Princi-not-your-pal ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/pretty_little_liars_s04e07_kissthemgoodbye_net_0370.xml) Principal Meanie stares down Aria and starts quizzing her about Awful Mike's mental state, and whether he's still taking his meds, etc. Seems Dorkus's parents are pressing charges about the car because they think Mike did it. Aria is unsettled by this interrogation and says nothing, and the princi-not-your-pal is basically stuck doing this entire scene chin-first. ## Nia Peeples and Emily ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/pretty_little_liars_s04e07_kissthemgoodbye_net_0410.xml) Nia somehow controls evidence boxes and such, so a detective casually comes by and plops Wilden's apartment key onto her desk for her to file away. Emily looks as unsubtle as possible while her mother noodles around, then convinces her mother to buzz off long enough for her to sit down at the desk -- in plain sight -- and steal it. Cleverly the show cuts away before she does anything, because there is no way anyone could explain Emily taking a key, unlocking a box, rooting around to get Wilden's key, and then locking the box before anybody in this wide-open room saw her. Also, this show might want to be more careful about Emily carrying GIANT purses on the shoulder that is so deeply wounded she is going in for injections to try and avoid surgery. ## Hanna and Spencer ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/pretty_little_liars_s04e07_kissthemgoodbye_net_0477.xml) Hanna is forging her mother's name to pay bills, and Spencer comes over in a blazer and a dress that reminds me of Dutch china. She tells Hanna that she overheard her mother, and in fact, it's better if Ashley pleads guilty to manslaughter as self-defense because then she'd only get 20 years, as opposed to life (or death). (Is that how it works in Pennsylvania, Fug Nation Legal Eagles?) Because when you have maxi news, you need a maxi dress. ## Dude ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/pretty_little_liars_s04e07_kissthemgoodbye_net_0564.xml) The Hardly Boys decide to look up how Red Coat could have gotten from 'Thornhill' (no idea) to Rosewood to set that fire. Somehow this all leads to flight plans and small airports and blah blah blah, this dude plays it off but they realize later he's blowing smoke and is on A's payroll. So they confront him, he claims he was paid to fly CeCe Drake to Rosewood, and that's all he knows. And then he bolts. Later, we see him serving a cup of coffee to a girl he speaks to affectionately, as he tells her what he did. So he's an A boy toy, I guess, and maybe dropping CeCe's name was a setup. I barely remember CeCe. I mean, I do -- she was Dead Alison's older pretty friend -- but I can't remember why she left town. Whatever. EVIDENCE BOARD. ## Aria ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/pretty_little_liars_s04e07_kissthemgoodbye_net_0590.xml) Aria is depressed about Awful Mike and Hanna's mother, so she drinks a refreshing Cola. Then Emily comes by to make them break into Wilden's apartment with her, because she apparently decided that safety (or strength) in numbers outweighed how hard it should be for three girls to sneak into a dead man's place. ## Wilden's place ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/pretty_little_liars_s04e07_kissthemgoodbye_net_0631.xml) Someone watches the girls snoop. Really? The cops wouldn't have closed the blinds? Come on. ## Meat ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/pretty_little_liars_s04e07_kissthemgoodbye_net_0705.xml) The girls find an old box of frozen steaks, and when they open it, it's rancid and contains a note from A about their "barbecue, which probably means the arson cabin. None of this does them any good, really, and they don't find anything to link Wilden to Jenna and Shana (pronounced "Shawna," and whom I kept calling "Sasha" last week -- oops). ## Hanna ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/pretty_little_liars_s04e07_kissthemgoodbye_net_0730.xml) Sydney has her court appearance, so Hanna grabs her most dour suit. Lindsay Lohan snorts, "Wuss." ## Aria ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/pretty_little_liars_s04e07_kissthemgoodbye_net_0749.xml) Aria looks pretty good here, as she sits outside Principal Evil's office while he interrogates Mike. She tells Ezra all about her conversation with Principal Evil, and this leads him to tell P.E. that he's not allowed to ask Aria about Mike's mental health and yada yada yada he "convinces" Principal Evil to tell Dorkus's family that there is no evidence for suspending Mike. Which is true, so I don't know why the blackmail was necessary.. Raise your hand if you think Ezra trashed the car. Later, Aria goes to give Ezra a thank-you note -- after knocking twice so clearly she hoped he'd be there -- and of course she runs into him on the way out, and of course it's Charged, and nothing happens and Ezra is a sad clown and YOU HAVE A SON AND SHE IS SEVENTEEN WHY DO YOU HAVE A JOB AT HER SCHOOL THIS IS ABSURD NO WAY NEVER. ## Hanna ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/pretty_little_liars_s04e07_kissthemgoodbye_net_1009.xml) Hanna puts on the worst shirt in existence for her mother's court appearance. Lindsay Lohan snorts, "That's more like it." ## Hanna ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/pretty_little_liars_s04e07_kissthemgoodbye_net_1019.xml) But Sydney does not buy into Hanna's argument that she should plead self-defense. She refuses to confess to something she didn't do, and she DOUBLY refuses to take the advice of anyone who would consciously put on that thing. ## Emily ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/pretty_little_liars_s04e07_kissthemgoodbye_net_1086.xml) And then things get CRAZY: Emily's mother gets suspended because they noticed the Wilden key missing. Emily is sneaking downstairs to, I think, find a way to return it; before she can leave, a car comes plowing through their living room wall, aimed at Emily's mom. She dives out of the way and Emily drags her to safety, but: Damn. That's one way to get the budget for a new set. ## Emily ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/pretty_little_liars_s04e07_kissthemgoodbye_net_1085.xml) The best thing, though, is that Emily's shirt appears to say "REALITY BITES," which is the truth. ## A ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/pretty_little_liars_s04e07_kissthemgoodbye_net_1111.xml) And in the button, A buys Emily a book about home repair "for Dummies," and a gift card to a hardware store. It's amazing. It's "As If." This. Show. Has. Everything: destruction, message tees, birds that eat other birds, masks, and WHAAAAAA, which is that thing where nobody knows anything.
