From here, it's just an innocent dress...

... but OOPS, there's the bra...

AND THEN, WHAT HO, SPANKIES.

Here, I believe Hanna is asking Aria why she's wandering around town with them dressed like an extra from the hobo scenes in Annie. Hanna, however, looks really good in that blazer -- she rocks many a blazer, in fact -- and Spencer is just all, "Don't mind me, I'm just combining with Clueless to make you embarrassingly nostalgic for knee socks because I can wear almost anything," and Emily's all, "I'm either going to a gym or robbing a 7-11."

Much better, kid. Some of her bright dresses with equally bright belts are SO CUTE on her that I can't figure out why booty shorts and slips are even on the table, except that I guess that roller coaster is what makes Aria fun to talk about.

I love this. I didn't love the calf-socks she paired it with, but that's okay. I will take them over a skirt that is fixated on hating Herbert Hoover (seriously, that was so heinous that I think it was a stroke of genius, which may have taken the form of an actual stroke).

I enjoy that Mona and Emily, in the same scene, were wearing the same coat but in different colors. No, really, I do love that. Because that WOULD happen, wouldn't it? Rosewood is a tiny made-up town and they all probably shop at the same places.

AND THEN WE HAVE ARIA AGAIN WHAT HAS SHE DONE WHAT IS THAT OMG.

It's like... I don't even... did she give a nightshirt dreadlocks?

Yeah, that is the exact expression on my face right now, too.

HEE. It never stops being hilariously wacktacular. Like, of course she paired a belly-baring dreadlocked t-shirt with knit fingerless arm warmers. OF COURSE. What else would one do? I imagine you can get very cold from the air flowing through her jersey hula strands.

And this was the money shot from the masquerade. I love that dress on Aria so much. I actually think they all look really pretty, except for Hanna's -- the more I look at it, the more I suspect she's supposed to be at work on a Disney cruise and just got lost. But she IS the princess of the bunch, in a sense (*and someone reminded me she was in costume as Juliet, so I'll allow it). Spencer's is perfectly straightforward (because she has a lot of action later and of course she can't get stuck in her froof), Emily's is a gorgeous color and shows off her curves, and Aria's is just beautifully made and perfect on her and awesome and I wish Lucy Hale would wear it for real.

Even the little red tulle poking out at the bottom is kind of amazing. Also, the masks are intricate and gorgeous. I'm not sure I believe they found these all at the last-minute, as the plot seemed to allege, but I don't care. So funky. I don't have enough masquerades in my life. I may just need to bring back masks. Me and Nicki Minaj and Gaga. The Three Amigas.

Like, on this episode, people who know each other spent the whole night actually wearing their masks, too. Having normal conversations. "Hey, so glad you two made up." "Hey, nice to see you." "Hey, how about Tim Tebow to the Jets, eh?" They COMMITTED. We should all do that. See you at the deli counter. I'll be the one dressed up like she's haunting an opera house.

"Hey, I'm just going to hang out here and worry about my missing girlfriend and be grateful that my storyline doesn't involve me making out with someone who could get arrested for it." The irony being that Bianca Lawson (Maya) is actually older than all these people. She's thirty-three or something, even though she looks 16.

"Hey, girl. I got fired for being a perv, which somehow caught us both by surprise, and now I'm'a shove my tongue down your throat in front of all my old students/your classmates and a bunch of adults. You dig?"

YOU TWO NEED TO STOP THIS. IT'S GETTING RIDICULOUS.
