Alicia is seriously making up for all that celibacy.

I just want to point out that JDM has nice feet. Alicia basically orders him to stay in her apartment so that she can fantasize about him being there while she's at work. JDM seems to enjoy being dominated and Alicia CLEARLY enjoys doing it. I wonder if Matthew Goode ever checks in on this show to see what he could have been doing. The funny thing is, the one he DID get to screen-bang -- Lady Mary -- is kind of an Alicia Florrick of another age: A steely, fair-skinned, sometimes crabby brunette who had to get a job.

While JDM is puttering around the house, Peter comes in... and slaps the coffee mug right out of his hand. He's NOT AMUSED. It's kind of great. I love seeing Peter discombobulated. The whole reason we have a show is because he's a jerkwad, so it's only fair that he should get to marinate in the consequences of that.

In this scene, where Peter demands that JDM get the hell out of his wife's house because they're still married and JDM nonchalantly agrees to get dressed and buzz off, they shoot it to force the perspective that Peter is taller. He looks more in command.

But then, when Peter follows JDM to the bedroom and sees that Alicia has clearly WHOLLY enjoyed this roll in the hay, the perspective changes and now JDM looks taller and Peter appears to be shrinking. Because he's realizing that he's no longer the king of this castle. Euphemistically or otherwise.

And then JDM is like, "YOU'RE IN MY WAY," and he means physically but also on SEVERAL OTHER LEVELS and Peter moves as fractionally as possible so that JDM can get past without Peter ceding very much ground. It's a nice scene and a great pissing contest. TEAM JDM. Always. Mostly because I am never Team Peter. The Bank of Florrick has zero credit in it right now with me.

JDM and Alicia also cannot help eye-fucking each other. Here, they are at the LAL offices and they undress each other freely with their eyes. She's ordering him back to her place, and he shrugs her off before confessing Peter's visit. Alicia narrows her eyes and explains politely that JDM WILL return to her apartment that night and she WILL see him and THERE WILL BE NAUGHTY TIME.
Perhaps if she'd been this assertive while running for office? Or in any other aspect of her career?

And then Alicia marches right into Peter's office, and when he acts like he can't fathom why she needs to see him so urgently, she levels him with this gaze and then asks for a divorce. APPLAUSE.
At first I was a little bummed that it took the entrance of another man to get her to ask, but I think it's more that JDM's presence was the vehicle for her to realize that she will always be under Peter's thumb in this arrangement. And that any perceived independence and freedom is false, and this was the wake-up call she needed.

Of course, it helps enormously to have all those realizations when you come home to THIS. YES PLEASE JEFFREY. And the look on her face when she realizes he's waiting, as instructed, is one of pure relief -- as if she can breathe again. And then they make out rather tenderly. What a damn dreamboat. He just has a GREAT masculine energy and superb Sex Twinkle, and so the chemistry is fairly off the charts. It was good with Finn Polmar, too, but then poor Matthew Goode had to go off and enter into a union with Lady Mary that is essentially a negative chemical reaction and LE SIGH. At least Alicia is getting some heat.

Peter has realized he is probably getting indicted by this Grand Jury, the specifics of which I have largely ignored because I don't care that much. He wants Alicia to stand by him until it's done. Be his right-hand man, stay alive until this horror show has passed, etc. He promises he'll give her an uncontested divorce as long as she holds on until after this passes, or else it'll look like she left him because he's guilty. Alicia opens her mouth to answer him and we cut to black on the episode. Or maybe she was opening her mouth to say, "I regret this jacket."

And then Max Medina from "Gilmore Girls" showed up as a dude who shot his neighbor's drone out of the sky. Let's assume that's something Max actually did, to a drone belonging to Taylor. Or that other guy. You know the one. Kurt? Kurt.

Anna Camp's character returned this week -- apparently she's been back to lawyering for a month but is already on this big case? Anyway, her trial style is not unfamiliar -- the Good Wife writes a lot of its lady guest lawyers as various degrees of the same basic person -- but she and Alicia are super cordial and they're impressed with Anna winning the case. Mayhap she'll come on board the S.S. LadyFirm. They need to let Lucca take her shopping and teach her about patterns.

Yes, Lucca, unless Anna's character suddenly became a 74-year old woman at her granddaughter's wedding, then she needs your help very much.

And, foxy Diane, being foxy.

Matthew Morrison is torturing Eli, because he's been tapping Marissa's phone and he knows about some of Eli's misdeeds. He's trying to get Eli to testify against Peter, so Eli retains Diane to help him. They manage to use some crazy tactics to protect Marissa but I think there's still a chance he'll have to go against Peter? I promise we'll discuss that when or if it actually happens. I tend to glaze over during some of these subplots until the moment of climax.

Mr. Burr, sir! It's here that I realized this episode had Leslie Odom Jr. from Hamilton, Matthew Morrison, Christine Baranski, and Anna Camp (Pitch Perfect) AND Alan Cumming, and NONE OF THEM BROKE INTO SONG. This is so sad to me. Especially because Renee Elise Goldsberry (Hamilton) and Michael Cerveris (Fun Home) were on this show for so long, and then there was that half-second the show paid Taye Diggs' rent, AND in one episode it was revealed that Renee's character Geneva Pine was married to a guy played by my boyfriend Chris Jackson (George Washington in Hamilton), and a swing from the Hamilton ensemble recently played a prisoner AND Nathan Lane came by last season for several episodes. The Good Wife is the new Law & Order, except for Broadway actors.

I love this suit on Diane, and that lipstick, and the look on Alicia's face that says, "What? Not even a few bars of 'Alicia Get Your Gun'?"

Sigh. SPIN OFF.

This is how Cary looked all episode. He's exhausted from all the posturing and glancing over his shoulder, trying to figure out if he's about to get double-crossed by Diane and/or Alicia. And then David Lee aligns with Diane... the thing is, I am so fatigued by all the corporate bed-hopping that I FULLY agree with his face. OVER IT.

But then Cary really leaves. He lets Diane buy him out, and quits lawyering altogether. What? At LEAST couldn't he have gotten a call from Kalinda on the lam and run off to be her boy toy? Why does he have to be beaten down and broken? I assume the show is not cutting bait on Cary this unceremoniously, because that would be such a betrayal of the past seven years we've spent with this person. Then again, Matt Czuchry might feel the same way -- they've paid Cary very little heed recently and so he'd probably rather go where he's wanted. AND, I hope that by venting in this manner, it will transpire that Cary returns in a BLAZE OF GLORY. Ideally while destroying the lives of his enemies. With Louis Canning.
WHERE IS LOUIS CANNING, also? WHERE IS ANYONE? I actually hope it's revealed that Louis, Taye Diggs, Michael Boatman (remember him?), Carey Zepps, and Cary have started a firm together and are going to rock it out.

Oh, Lucca. You deserve more than this, too. We've got, what, four episodes left/ I am hoping desperately that you can bring some thunder.
