Although the hat just sort of looks like a giant bow someone's sat on, this dress is VERY CHARMING on her, and she looks totally cute. (I've given up the matchy-matchy shoe fight, you guys. I can only do so much.)
That hat is DIVINE.
She looks fantastic. The Kentucky beauty queens pulled it off this year -- which, I guess they'd better, considering.
Like, I am not WHOLLY sold on the Clavicle Cut-Out on this dress, but I love her for wearing an entire bouquet on her head and those shoes are for real great.
I desperately wish the underdress didn't have the bare midriff bit; It would be so much chicer without that extra detail.
Aretha's hat has a pastel cousin! I could not resist the photo of her peeking around the giant bottle of Moet. EVERYTHING about this is wonderful to me. THIS is the hat you wear to the Kentucky Derby, ladies. This is a HAT. This COMMITS to HATNESS.
Whereas this is totally just the hat you wear down at the pool because you're using Retin-A now and you really don't want to jack your face.
Imagine how cute this would have been paired with shoes in a sassy pattern! A missed opportunity, LBB, although I enjoy how ENORMOUS that hat is. A sentiment surely not shared by whomever sat next to you at this event.
I also love THIS hat. The dress is kind of Final Sale at Nordstrom Rack, but that's like an entire cake on her head and I support this. (Also...is her dog wearing a fascinator? Because it ought to be. Hats for EVERYTHING on Derby Day.)
