I don't know if that is a dress or shorts, but it's shapeless and lousy. And worse, it's giving me flashbacks to the time when Nicole Richie would wear similarly cut stuff -- blousy up top, way too short and tight down below -- and I really think we as a society should steer ourselves FAR AWAY from anything Nicole Richie did back in those days. It was almost an apocalypse. I can't believe we survived it. Maybe we DIDN'T. MAYBE THIS IS ALL A REALLY CRAPPY PURGATORY.
She looks a lot more... surprised... than I am used to her looking. That outfit also makes her look a lot closer to 50 than I suspect she would like. Ease up, kid.
I wish Renee had worn this. Mostly because I feel like she went from Strapless Cocktail Dresses through a very brief Batty Aunt phase before landing in Snoozy Woman Of A Certain Age That Is Not Nearly As Old As She's Dressing. There was never a funky, easy, casual stylishness in between. This look at least approaches that mark -- it's really relaxed and sparkly, but not crazy revealing, and yet the pants are still sexy AND there is shoe interest. Renee should at least inch in this direction. And THAT is officially more thought than I've put into Hilary OR Renee in a very long time.
That is a very elaborate dickey she strapped on over her black cocktail dress. I feel like Blue Ivy probably has three of those that she uses as bibs.
But at least Renee didn't go with Wicked Witch of the West meets Caroline Bingley meets Lady Edith Crawley If The Downton Writers Don't At Least TRY To Give Her Something Nice In Life.
I was going to say that would work for me without the sleeves, but of course it's halfway a coat dress, so sleeveless might ALSO be strange. It's not bad; it just looks like one dress is snacking on the other.
I LOVE that she was like, "All black? LIGHTEN UP, EVERYBODY."
