I don't love these shoes either, but the dress is 90s in a way that I can still appreciate. Sparse. Slip-dress-ish. Uncomplicated of shape. If the first look reminds me of the most awkward moments of high school, this one reminds me more of the time I spent 2 hours at the Clinque counter trying to find the exact right nude lipstick so that I could like I wasn't wearing any makeup in a way that was fantastic. (This never really worked, but when you're very young you are willing to try anyway.)

This is very ladylike, but I worry that it proves what one of Fug Nation pointed out during the Emmys: grey is more difficult to pull off than we all tell ourselves.

This might be a wee bit big on her, and a little bit...grim? I am not sure. I think the dress itself is actually very pretty, and SHE herself is very pretty, but together...I am unsure. Maybe she needs more bling? Insert my usual comments about bracelets here.

And if you didn't see it the first time, its craziness is -- as NBC used to say during re-run season -- NEW TO YOU.

[Fugs and Fabs: Bella HeathcoteBella Heathcote here is an Australian actress who was on Neighbours -- which I believe is constitutionally mandated for all Australian performers -- and also appeared in Dark Shadows, or, as I like to call it, The Johnny Depp Movie Where Everyone Realized We Weren't In the Mood to Pay $12 to See Johnny Depp and Tim Burton Screwing Around Again. She's in David Chase movie at the moment, along with Jack "I'm the Sad and Good-Looking Yet REALLY TROUBLED and Also Half-Faceless Dude on Boardwalk Empire" Huston and a bunch of other people, about a rock band from Jersey in the 60s. All I know from the trailer is that her hair looks cute in it and David Chase will never make a project without Tony Soprano popping up.
