## Janelle Monae

First of all, you need to know that it was REALLY HOT in LA yesterday, and more humid than usual. So she had to be about to expire of heat prostration. So this -- cool under any circumstances -- is even COOLER, given that it's apparently magical, with weather-repelling properties in addition to just glorious grooviness.

This seems slightly...Magically Vaginal. (Magically Vaginal is playing the Roxy next weekend, you guys, and they're amazing.)

## Kelly Rowland

She also had to be SO HOT in this -- is that velvet? Additionally, FYI, we're now at a place in the world where I find myself saying things like, "is that a cape, or just REAL BIG SLEEVES?"

## Monica

This, I think, is more of a caftan than anything else, and I LOVE it. She and Janelle Monae look like they could be the dueling high priestesses of some terribly interesting new cape-and-caftan-based, goddess-oriented religion and I would TOTALLY go to their meetings.

[BET Awards Fugs and Fabs: Capes!I've never been more delighted than I was when I realized that enough women in capes, or cape-adjacent looks, at the BET Awards to make a whole slideshow. A summer Monday is by definition a bummer; let's cheer up with some drama. \[Photos: Getty\]![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/bf/b9/bfb99790-924d-4e41-a7e6-5e3c6e04fe57/content/images/static-gofugyourself-com/uploads/2015/06/gettyimages-478914712_master.jpg)](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/fugs-and-fabs-capes-bet-awards-06-2015/)
