Cate Blanchett

There is a part of me that really is not wild about this, and then another part of me that thinks she looks superb in it. And neither part seems able to defeat the other. I don't, conceptually, love all the bunching under the belt that makes it look like her dress is choking out a long, black tongue, or something. And yet somehow it still strikes me true that she looks groovy.

I am likewise conflicted about this: Love the color and want to cleave to it forever, but I hate the line of where the top part hits her. So unflattering. And bunchy.

I miss the red lipstick here. I really thought I wouldn't like this -- that it might feel like armor -- but then I studied it up close, and think it's really rather cool. I love that she doesn't ever just wear a simple black dress (not that there is anything wrong with that, but when you have Resources, it seems like a crutch). There is always SOMETHING with her outfits.

And, the shoes, for those of you who need more information about such things. Which is usually everyone. There is NEVER too much to know about someone's shoes, except perhaps where else they have walked, because I don't want to know some people's lives. (She is not one of them.)

Fugs and Fabs: Cate Blanchett
Cate Blanchett is always so good for a discussion -- there's something great about her where people can be completely divided about her clothes, but it never gets personal or angry or disgusted, because, much like SWINTON, people just think she's so damn cool.
