Keke Palmer

Hmm. Well, the proportions are bold. I think the cut of pant looks a little stodgy on her, maybe -- for some reason this is reading too old to me. She's only 21, and whether it's the actual fabric or the cut or the hairdo or some combo of them all, this doesn't scream Only Just Old Enough To Drink Legally.

Bella Thorne

I wouldn't necessarily say I like this, but I don't DISLIKE it, either -- and in contrast to the first slide, this feels pretty 17 on her, which is right on the nose. PS: The shoes are a yes.

Brittany Snow

It's a nice idea, but it turns on what might as well be an American Apparel tank dress, and that's boring.

Victoria Justice

Something about the shoes here feels like that period in about 2003-2005 when nobody was using stylists and everyone got their shoes from Brass Plum in Nordstrom.

Ashley Tisdale

And this one hinges on a sports bra, which is very Ashley Tisdashian of her. (Even if she doesn't look wholly bad.)

Chloe Bridges

She may have woven that skirt herself out of leather, an old ski hat, and self-sabotage.

Anna Camp

That's pretty, but it looks a bit like a daytime dress that she's trying to make work at night with dark accessories. It's not quite flying for me.

Tori Kelly

That dress is kind of aggressive, but I love her hair. She sang at the Billboard Music Awards, just her and her guitar, and annihilated it. Seriously, Mariah and Jussie Smollett and Estelle, Britney/Iggy... hardly any of the major acts sounded great, and she just stood there with nothing to hide behind and sang rings around them all. Very nice. Someday I'm sure that will turn into her on a stage in hot pants with twenty backup singers and a headset, but for now, it was very Ed Sheeran of her and I dug it.

Fugs and Fabs: Elle Women in Music
Most of these women don't exactly LEAP to mind when I think of women in music, but maybe everyone else was busy. [Photos: Getty]
