As with a lot of things, this worked better in person. The gown isn't trying too hard to do much of anything, and she changed out of it very quickly because she performed five songs in a costume topped with a headdress made of butterflies, so I suspect she just wanted easy on, easy off. I think black hair is my favorite on Katy, but the red does warm things up a little in a way that isn't unwelcome. Of course, the shoes are terrible, but I regret to inform you that we saw a LOT of big chunky platform stuff on the runways. It's back and I don't even truly feel like it ever left.

This dress was fine on her -- honestly, the whole look was more about the diamonds, nestled just-so.

This is a GOWN. As we walked out, she was doing a twirl for a friend (or a fan?) -- basically, Anna is one of Zac Posen's favorites, and she often does funky moves and spins while wearing his gowns down the runway (and has been on his Instagram doing it in his studio). So she paraded back and forth and swished and swirled in it, and it was quite gorgeous. It's just... it's the real deal.

Mrs. Prada, that little collar doesn't make this any less bordello. Or BORED-ello, as the case may be.

So heavy in the shoulders. I don't think she can carry it.

I will say this: There are times when her fashion choices are way more simple and sophisticated than her older sisters' (or her younger, actually). But that doesn't mean I don't think this is underwhelming. It's fine? It's not Kartrashian? But it's forgettable.

She took off her shoes pretty fast once she got inside. I'd have put up her hair with this, I think.

That dress is cool, but also MIGHT resemble conjuring some kind of demonic spirit.

She was SO cheerful and friendly, and so it pains me that this hot-ass mess DOES NOT WORK on her.

For the gala that takes place in your neighbor's pool.

She was ALSO extremely friendly, and I ALSO am sd to report that fences do not a workable gown make.

This looks like an old-school biscuit tin.

Freida Kahlo at swingers' party.

Fine? Sure. Whatever.
