Whether or not it's FAIR to Anne Hathaway that people got so annoyed with her, the fact that it happened is indisputable. So if you were her, popping up after a year and a half of comparative obscurity, wouldn't you want to remind people that you are sleek and cool, rather than looking like someone's aimless Grief Knitting? You can't come out firing on all Blanchett cylinders -- you have to warm up to it. Don't attempt the science if you haven't even lit the Bunsen Burner.
Gorgeous -- apparently Givenchy CAN bring it when Kim and Kanye are not involved -- but my kingdom for a red lip and a bracelet or three.
She looks beautiful in this. But I don't have a mental image of Reese Witherspoon being that busty. I"m sure she either is and I just nver noticed, or the dress is just super adept at wrangling, but of course my initial surprise led me straight to, "Maybe she'll turn out to be pregnant again. BABIES!" I promise this is not a comment on the rest of her figure. It's genuinely just that I looked at this and went, "Wow, has she ALWAYS had that chest, or is the dress just REALLY cuddling the girls?"
Kate Hudson can often get by on minimalism, but there's a faint line between that and the Blahs, and this gives me a case of the latter. The dress is pretty, but I wish it sat a touch higher, and from the bustline up it's like she put no effort into it at ALL.
Also, I'm sorry if this makes me old and sad, but the hair is ridiculous on her. It makes her head look dull and dirty rather than shiny. Basically, what I really wanted out of Kate was to winkingly show up in the How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days dress, and I'm bummed out that nobody made that happen. WHOOPS apparently it was for breast-cancer awareness month, which is a nice thought even if I wish there were more effective ways to encourage donations. SORRY K-HUD. I'm going to leave what I said because it's true in GENERAL of pink hair, though. Like, she shouldn't keep it.
I like her unusual taste, but isn't that bodice too big? I feel like it's removing itself as I type.
She has never looked so much like Lili Taylor to me, and it's distracting. I guess the tunic is fine? The shoes are the star, though.
And thus, here are the shoes. They're Loubs, and they're gorgeous.
I really like Jennifer Garner. I do. But just ONCE I need her to turn it up. Remember Ben Affleck's "Argo" awards run, and how great she looked? DO THAT. Do it in service of your OWN stuff and not just his.
She genuinely looks like a widow from a period drama. That handsome huckster is planning to take her for everything she's worth... until all he wants is to take her, period. Give it a pretentious title, like... Jane Campion's The Harpsichord, or Lee Daniels' Flowers On The Table, or The Doldrums Buyers Club. Done.
I don't know when or why she jumped up there, but she totally glommed onto his leg and it's SO CUTE. Like she wanted to run up and hug him and then had second thoughts once she was up there. Or in other words: "Not all right, not all right, not all right."
"Mr. Nolan, before you go, I have some notes on Inception that you might find useful."
