This picture is a marvel. Getty photographers are sometimes slow to upload, but MAN, is it worth the wait (and, so as not to malign anyone, this photo was punctual).
"Sigh. I do so HATE it when I have to throw a jockey into the Tower."
The brooch has been identified as one the Queen Mum used to wear, which it sounds like the Queen herself has not worn before -- in fact per that site, which I believe is by the same genius who does The Royal Order of the Sartorial Splendor (with all the awesome stuff on tiaras), the Queen has worn all new-to-her brooches this week. That color is pretty on her, too.
I LOVE that Anne wore that bright lid today. She looks fabulous. She is NOT, however, having ANY of this man's explanation that he couldn't POSSIBLY have poisoned the sherry because he was out grooming his horse.
"I shall be QUITE pleased when I can stop cleaning up you people's nasty messes and just sit down and enjoy a brandy in my coat."
This thing looks homemade, to me. Like an ode to nachos, or part of a costume she'd wear if she were gadding about in tights in a farcical production of Shakespeare, strumming a ukulele.
Well, Bea, I love the color of the skirt, but frankly I think this is not working on you AT ALL -- it's dumpy and proportionally disappointing.
But Eugenie's is worse. Not only is she in khaki AGAIN, but it's HIDEOUS. Like, the top of that looks like something bled onto her karate uniform in the wash and so she's trying to repurpose it. Colossally unflattering.
Which is a shame because the hat is pretty.
I just read the best tidbit, which is that Prince Edward was GOING to be made Cambridge when he married Sophie, but then he saw Shakespeare in Love and heard that there was a character named Wessex and liked the sound of it. Edward might be kind of nutty. Anyway, Sophie has apparently gone all the way the other side of the spectrum, possibly because Anne called her and said there was MURDER MOST FOUL afoot and that she should look somber. This might need to be a touch shorter and have a round neck instead of a mock turtle, but her face looks great. And STERN. Maybe SOPHIE DID IT.
Peter turned out really cute. I remember when I was a kid and was bummed out that there weren't any princes I could crush on (William being younger is a real issue when you are nine, and he is four); my mom pointed out that Peter Phillips was a possibility and I was like, "UGH, WHATEVER," and I'd like to point out that this was bratty, and not even entirely rooted in anything but the fact that he wasn't technically a prince, and I'm very sorry, Peter. You are very nice-looking and don't need a title, and I'm sure we could have been very happy together.
I like her earrings. That is also a lively hat. Camilla should bust out some seafoam.
"What do you mean, ANOTHER color of waistcoat?"
Sadly, this one didn't end as happily as last year.
I love pictures of people SCREAMING for their horse, as I do.
