Sarah Michelle Gellar

She looks fantastic. I am so glad she's back AGAIN on TV, but... I mean, maybe? If the show can find enough of an ensemble chemistry WITHOUT relying on Robin Williams so that they can use him and his antics sparingly, then it might have a chance.

Lucy Liu

Lucy, give this back to the girl going to her ninth-grade dance.

Anna Faris, Allison Janney

Allison looks tall and fabulous and chic, like always. I am THRILLED Anna grew out the bob, because it made her face look too square; the dress is cute but I'm not sure it needed the peephole.

Marg Helgenberger

Marg is on My Mind Chip Just Paid Your Phone Bill with Sawyer, and it feels a lot like her CSI role except fewer corpses. Welcome back to TV, Marg. Your dress is terrible.

Marg, Sawyer, Meghan Ory

Sawyer looks great, although the scarf buttoned under there makes me laugh. And strangely, Meghan Ory looks like she's TOTALLY OVER IT with both of them. Her outfit is great, but her face is like, "I hope they write an episode where his brain chip goes outside the 4G network and starts dropping all its calls."

Johnny Lee Miller

I feel like he was baby-faced FOREVER (remember Eli Stone?), and now suddenly he's not. Which isn't a bad thing. He's great on Elementary and he looks dashing here, if a bit rumply, which Sherlock would appreciate.

Neil Patrick Harris

Always so good.

Pauley Perrette

My theory about this is, she wore it for Halloween one year when she went as Zooey Deschanel.

Julie Chen

Julie Chen seems like a good time. And she's in great shape. So WHY can't anyone at CBS figure out how to clothe her? The way that jacket is hanging on her -- and buttoned only at the bottom -- is a hot mess. Maybe if she took it off or unsnapped it or whatever we'd be in better business.

Johnny Galecki

Hilarious. On purpose? Hard to say.

Toni Collette

The proportions of this outfit are doing unfortunate things to her. I keep thinking her waist is like a foot lower than it is.

Alyson Hannigan

Reliably fine. I wonder if it's weird for Alyson Hannigan, getting to be on two long-running TV series that get to end on their own terms. I shouldn't say "weird," because that sort of thing is a rare gift for an actor, I'd imagine. Most endings are unceremonious. But I bet it's emotional.

Cobie Smulders

Meanwhile, I feel like someone scratched out "semi-" from Cobie Smulders' invitation to the semi-formal upfronts and now she's stuck looking like she's just road-testing outfits for whatever Marvel events she gets roped into this year.

Fugs and Fabs: The CBS Upfronts
We need to discuss how bizarre the notion is of Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar as sitcom-costars. And yet, The Crazy Ones exists, which should probably be re-punctuated The Crazy One(s). Instead of promoting most of the actual shows, CBS did behind-the-scenes reels, and it's probably a bad sign that the theme of The Crazy One's is, "All the stuff off camera and the ruined takes have been SO FUN AND FUNNY." I anticipate many tales from the set about SMG, who strikes me as a total efficient professional, wanting to Buffy Punch the hell out of Mork. Will Arnett's The Millers looks so terrible that one can only imagine how desperate he was to take any job at all that ensured Up All Night died a decisive death. The two comedies that look okay, I still don't know that I'd go out of my way to watch every week: We Are Men might not be awful and Allison Janney and Anna Faris were superb casting for Mom. I bet that one sticks. As for dramas, there's just some limited-run Hostages thing -- I do love the words "limited run" when it comes to those sorts of stories -- and then Josh Holloway's Intelligence, a.k.a. CSI: Persons of Interest, a.k.a. My Brain Has WiFi. It's basically an excuse to do a bunch of 3D graphics of crime scenes and evidence walls while Sawyer broods. There are worse reasons to do a TV show. Considering Persons of Interest still seems to exist despite Jim Caviezel being a tree with a mouth, it'll probably do relatively well.
