I love that Solange is randomly at Cannes, looking incredibly dramatic. I take this as a sign that The Ascension is officially underway, and that Beyonce had better LOOK OUT. Also, if Beyonce does turn out to be pregnant, that is a great time for Solange to assume the throne. I'm just saying. I feel like last time she kind of upped her fab quotient during The Gestation of the Carterling, too. As for this gown, I wish it were a bold color and that it didn't look like a bunch of birds died because they thought it was a window, but whatever. We can't have everything. THE ASCENSION MUST BE GRADUAL.

I feel like I'm supposed to fall in love with its whimsy, but I hate this. A lot. It's a Pink Lady's bathrobe, and not even her best one; it's the backup for when she needs to dye her hair over the sink and doesn't want to stain the one she actually likes. Also, the shoes. No.

Well, it's not perfect, but it's the best I've seen her look in a while so I'll take it.

That dress is fabulous. I love a redhead who wears red. And the necklace is GREAT. But I keep forgetting Isla Fisher was in this movie, and in fact, I had no idea of that fact at ALL until she started turning up at all the premieres. Minor fail on the part of her PR people.

Her head looks GLORIOUS and THAT HAIR, and yet the rest of it is a letdown. Poor Julianne. Whenever she tries something complicated, it tends to backfire, and then when she does something simple I yawn. But this dress just has no zest. At all.

I like this, but something about the change in the skirt around her mid-thigh region makes it look more inexpensive. I wish it had kept the same fabric and found a way to work in the pleating that way.

Cindy looks great, predictably. Although we've gone from "Man, Cindy is aging well" to "Man, Cindy got some great plastic surgery" to "Wait, did something go wonkus with a nose procedure?" Not that she's not still gorgeous, but things look different. Also, she looks like she could be Lana Del Rey's mother (or older sister, I guess, if she prefers). I never noticed the resemblance before.

Lorie here is a French singer. She has a LITTLE bit of a Rachel McAdams vibe to her, maybe? And I actually might like this. The detail that looks like a giant fan is appealing, because anything done with a giant fan is automatically melodramatic in a delightful way.

Claudia is one of the many models who pops by Cannes. Her dress is cool; it's a shame for all these people that they got rained on. I guess this is where you have to sidle up to Carey Mulligan and compliment her lipstick and then sort of mooch off her umbrella wrangler.

Something about that beadwork seems very... celestial. Or otherwordly. Like Indiana Jones is going to pop out of the crowd with a crystal carving that clicks right into it and the resulting energy surge turns her into a planet.

YOU GUYS. Bai is in the house, and she looks REGULAR. It almost sticks out more because Old Bai would have been right at home in the loopy environs of a Cannes red carpet.

EVEN PHOEBE seems kind of normal. ... Well, okay, she's got on a tiara and her dress looks a lot better in tiny thumbnail than in the larger size. I hope this isn't a bad omen. Dropping my jaw over everyone's hideous Cannes atrocities is one of my favorite pasttimes. If PHOEBE F'ING PRICE, that cherished inexplicable invitee anywhere she goes, is bringing some sanity to the festival this year then who KNOWS how sedate the rest of it might be. Sniffle.
