I mean, yes, those are a lot of grommet-esque holes in this dress. (What do you think is the term for a plurality of grommets? A clutch of grommets?) But I actually think she looks kind of cool in this -- and it is SO RIGHT for an event like this. It's sexy, and funky, but not trashy. (Her hair kinda looks like she had a dry shampoo overdose, but we can't have everything.)

Here's what I want: A TV program wherein Andra Day sings amazingly and then also does a lot of dramatic lighting of cigarettes (in holders, of course) and pouring of drinks from giant fabulous crystal decanters, and putting on lipstick in front of a fabulous vanity. In short, in which she basically looks glamorously retro whilst doing things you'd see in a stylish old movie about a very glamorous woman who may also be solving murders.

She looks as thrilled to be wearing this as I am to see her in it. Yes, it's pants, paired with a long chiffon vest-cum-bikini top. A tip: When I have to pick up my laptop and hold it close to my face to figure out your ensemble, it's a bad sign.
