There was a bit of a brouhaha recently surrounding some promotional t-shirts the cast of *Suffragette* wore, [which repeat a portion of a quote from the film's subject, Emmeline Pankhurst: "I'd rather be a rebel than a slave.](https://www.vulture.com/2015/10/meryl-streep-suffragette-shirt-is-unfortunate.html?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)" Taken out of context, that quote can mean a whole lot of other things to a whole lot of people. Between that and [Valentino's African-inspired show that used mostly white models in corn rows](https://www.refinery29.com/2015/10/95282/valentino-africa-twitter-responses-pfw-spring-2016?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io), I'm thinking nobody these days has any advisers who are paying attention.
