Nina Dobrev in Michael Kors

I rather like this dress on her -- it's a bit more girly-cute than I expect from her these days, but that's okay, and it's wonderfully event-appropriate: You can be on-stage on a stool in that sucker, or a chair, and not worry about flashing anybody your bits, plus it seems comfortable for a prolonged period of sitting. Plus, she's essentially there for work, so it's good that she doesn't look like she thinks "PaleyFest" is a poorly named new nightclub. BUT...

... her hair is a twee mess, with a janky bow and a lot of blah. I understand the idea of a younger hairdo to match the flirty flippy frock, but in that case a well-executed formal ponytail could've been fine (although I think combating the dress with a more mature hairdo, like a soft bun or something, might've been the play). I just am unaccustomed to seeing her hair look so half-assed. When you HAVE such good hair, why would you DO that to yourself?

Ian Somerhalder

There were a lot of problematic head-suits in the building, actually.

However, the exes DID high-five. Fan-fic writers, rev your engines.

Claire Holt

If that is NOT a shirt and blouse that match, then somebody screwed up their pattern-cutting something awful. Presuming it IS, though, this actually works a lot better than I expected, until you get to the accessories of course. Nude shoe plus no bracelet equals WHY.

Danielle Campbell

None of this feels particularly tied together, although SHE is lovely. However, she wins MAJOR cred for a bracelet.

Leah Pipes

Let's redo the bottom half of this, right?

Phoebe Tonkin

This is so much better than a lot of what she's ever worn. NAB, though, of course. But it doesn't ruin anything for me.

Paul Wesley

After the demise of TWoP (scheduled for April 4) was announced, I flashed back to when he was Paul Wasilewski and I recapped him on "Wolf Lake." Good times. He looks ... almost the same. More mature, obviously, but he's aging extremely well. It's crazy to think it's more than a decade later and he still passes for so young.

Rachael Leigh Cook and Daniel Gillies

A handsome couple. How is her hair so SHINY?

And here are her shoes, for those of you who were itching for a close-up.

Charles Michael Davis

I find him ridiculously charming on "The Originals," and I think he looks pretty damn lovely here, even if I'm not completely sure about the blue-on-blue-ness of it all.

Joseph Morgan and Persia White

Gossip alert! Klaus, in real life, is dating the woman who played Kat Graham's mother on "Vampire Diaries." I appreciate the outfit he's trying to work AND the fact that he loves an older lady, as an older lady myself who is often surprised to realize her own age (I will leave the CW demographic the day I am cold in the ground, y'all). But I wonder: Would the jacket have worked better as part of a whole suit, and not just as a sportcoat? Or is the black tie enough to tie it all into a lovely bow?

Joseph Morgan and Daniel Gillies

This, however, is the poster for a Broadway musical I absolutely would go see.

Okay, wait, THIS is the one that will get the fan-fics going.

Fugs and Fabs: The Vampire Diaries and The Originals at PaleyFest
PaleyFest goes on so long, and reaches so far and wide, that it's starting to feel like TCAs -- as if the only qualification for getting a PaleyFest panel is, "Having ever aired on television for more than ten seconds." It's great for shows like Lost, or really long-running/ending/changing favorites (like, Grey's Anatomy, with Sandra Oh leaving, feels like it could've merited one), or reunions of old shows, but I'm not entirely sure I think The Originals -- in the midst of its first season -- necessarily needed to come to the party yet. I don't begrudge it; I just don't really get the point. Having said that: HOORAY FOR OUTFITS, and cute men in suits, so invite whomever you want, PaleyFest planners. [Photos: Getty]
