Lord, the '80s really are back, eh? She wore this the day after her party, once her Fashion Week was done. Thank God she waited, because if she'd shown up in this at the tents, she might've had to referee her own scrum.
She wore this to a Grammys pre-party. It needs lipstick -- her mouth looks swollen; that is a horrible non-color -- and it is replete with sideboob. It's also basically a long see-through curtain over a mini-dress and thigh-high boots. I almost wish she'd just worn the mini and the boots.
THIS is Miley being Miley. And as such, this is actually what I EXPECTED her to wear to all the fashion shows -- stuff that is the brand of punk rock she wants to be. Seriously, this is what you'd get if you told Project Runway contestants to be inspired by a John Hughes movie. She's Duckie and Watts rolled together.
But this is what she ACTUALLY wore. And while I think it's great she dressed for the occasion and took being Joanna Coles' date seriously, this didn't really do it for me. It's mostly the lower half -- boring shoes, mumsy pants (well, it's a jumpsuit, but you feel me). In person it felt a little like a Junior Achievement Power Suit.
I like it better with the leather jacket on, for sure - wish she'd kept it.
Do we think this is a Marchesa? Usually celebs wear the designer to the show, but this seems so much more Fancy Hanky than their stuff. I mean, there's no tulle anywhere.
This is my favorite of her looks -- she obviously really likes that jacket, and with this dress, it's obvious why. It clicks so nicely right over top of it. I love this.
And then, for Marc, we got this. Although I actually think it's funny. The sweater is a nod -- or a nose-thumbing -- to her Disney roots, and the very nice skirt is probably Marc, who had a couple people with bare midriffs in the front row. (Marc himself, of course, seems to be wearing pajamas and is smoking either a real or electronic cigarette... Whatever, Marc Jacobs.) Anyway, she looks kind of absurd for a real-world situation, but for THIS situation -- front-row at a fashion show is decidedly not real-world -- I am actually laughing. But WITH her. Or at the very least not at her.
