Nicole Kidman

Is this velvet? It's pretty, but it also looks like what you're supposed to be wearing in your annual family Christmas portrait, and considering that this weekend in Los Angeles was REALLY HOT, just looking at it is making my face sweat.

Elizabeth Banks

(Possibly could use a bracelet, and you know how I feel about the shoes, but....) I think this is great on her. This feels like the idea use of the crop top -- and the color is fabulous. Carry on, Banks.

Kerry Washington

I love shiny and I love polka dots and I love her for not wearing boring shoes. Thank you, Kerry Washington. I need so little to be able to carry on, truly.

Charlize Theron

This scarf is apparently to cover a bandage from a recent neck surgery, but I wouldn't have even given it a second thought if US Weekly hadn't gone all in about it -- I assumed the neck detail on this was part of the dress. Which is both Stella McCartney and lovely on her, so if you've got COMPLIMENTS STELLA on your GFY bingo card, mark that off.

Jessica Alba

This dress is cute, but THAT IS A LOT OF BOOB FOR THE DAYTIME.

Hannah Simone

And! While I'm getting capsy, I feel like this does HER no favors. Maria von Trapp seriously has shoved this in the back of her closet.

Maria Bello

Maria, on the other hand, looks like she popped by on her way to be awesome somewhere. She can really wear a pair of leather pants.

Amy Poehler

Sigh. This dress is totally good on her but any styling basically never happened. Maybe her stylist is super tired from the Emmys? That's fair enough.

Jennifer Hudson

She, on the other hand, is looking pretty great. I appreciate the giant watch standing in for a bracelet; very sharp.

Darby Stanchfield

I also think this is great on her, AND I love those shoes.

Katie Lowes

Quinn has apparently raided Mellie's closet. I feel like that actually might happen on Scandal this season, except she would be raiding it for only quasi-ethical purposes and then Mellie would find out and destroy her. Actually, that might be fun. Let's make that happen, Hollywood.

Fugs and Fabs: Variety's Power of Women Event
In which Nicole Kidman puts a brave face on the fact that they've pushed back her Grace Kelly biopic to spring, taking her out of awards contention. Do you think she and Naomi Watts sit around and wonder why they decided to do movies about iconic princesses this year? Also: cute day-dresses, the re-appearance of Charlize, and further examination of Kerry Washington. [Photos: Getty]
