Helen Mirren

I am not sure about the hooves, but I am here for Helen Mirren's Sassy Hat Phase.

Naomie Harris in Emanuel Ungaro

She looks so fab, with great shoes, except that the length of the pants seems wonky to me.

Jenna Dewan in Halston Heritage

This open-backed outfit looks lovely, but slightly overlong on her -- exact opposite problem as Naomie. Overall though the effect is sleeker. My concern is that the shaggy hairdo really, really takes her face out of the equation. And she has a GREAT face, so that should never happen.

Scarlett Johansson

I can't tell which thing is true: She spilled anti-freeze all over the dress that was meant to go OVER the slip and matched the shoes, or she accidentally lit all her other shoes on fire and that's why she picked a pair that looks totally wrong with this. Obviously those are the only two possible explanations.

Ava DuVernay

That is spectacular on her.

Victoria Justice in Bryan Hearns

This dress is making me nostalgic for the old soda can pull-tabs.

Ashley Tisdale in CinqaSept

No, Ashley, you CAN'T have it altered and wear your Ren Faire cosplay stuff again.

Laverne Cox

This is sort of boring (and partly sheer), but she accessorized it splendidly. And honestly, sometimes that really CAN make a difference.

Rachel Bloom

She NABs. Bracelet this up, girl, because it's otherwise cute but needs that last push.

Marley Dias

As an 11-year old, Marley started a movement called #1000BlackGirlBooks to seek out stories about young adults of color. Let her Elle column tell you the rest about how impressive she is. And: killer color, love the frames, and GREAT shoes. She's on top of this.

Rosanna Arquette

I would have left the extra tablecloth at home, obviously, but otherwise this has personality. Remember when Rosanna was in Desperately Seeking Susan with Madonna? I kind of wish THIS was how Madonna would dress now. Sometimes she does; mostly she goes for shock and awe, when in fact, she could just buy some colorful boots.

Fugs and Fabs: Variety's Power of Women Luncheon
Miley Cyrus was honored at this event, but -- in keeping with her current strategy -- she did not walk the red carpet**. This is perhaps for the best, because it means very few photos exist of her looking like a clown who works nursing homes. (That is a comment on the fabric, by the way, not on Helen Mirren being in that photo. Helen, obviously, is the best at any age, and I really would've liked to be a fly on the wall for that conversation. What DOES Helen Mirren say to Miley Cyrus, and how often does she raise her eyebrow in the process?) ** She has said she won't do it because it's trivial and the world has more important problems: "Why, when people are starving, am I on a carpet that’s red? Because I’m 'important'? Because I’m 'famous'?" And yet she apparently does think she's important enough to ATTEND the events and accept their awards. I know that's not quite analogous, but you know how it is with Miley Cyrus. It's typical for her to say something that has a genuine kernel of good intentions but that has not perhaps been thought through to its full conclusion. Also, to be honest, Miley not walking the red carpet draws zero attention to the larger issues of the world, because she is robbing herself of a platform to discuss them in favor of slipping quietly in the back door. So it's a bit of a pointless gesture -- a bit "if a tree falls in the forest," if you think about it. [Photos: Fame/Flynet]
