Anne Hathaway

I am not a fan of this. There's something very distracting about the way the light catches both the seaming underneath the fringe cascade, and the fringe itself. Cousin Itt would be very aroused; I am underwhelmed.

It's... an interesting idea? Especially with the two-tone fringe? But it just looks too much like the curtain in a psychic's house that separates her fortune-telling room from the kitchen.

She's still working the hair, at least. When she first cut that off, I thought, "Wow, a wig might've been a pain, but she is going to REGRET THAT." But it's actually surprisingly cute on her -- in fact, she kind of reminds me of my mom from back in the day, and I'm not even sure I'm remembering my mother when she had short hair. I just suddenly got a hit of my mother from this happy smile and overall cuteness. This complicates my otherwise potent dislike of her performances in all movies (except perhaps Get Smart, which she owes to Steve Carell). Damn you, Hathaway, for tweaking my genetic loyalty.

She looks quite cute and Hepburn-y in this, though. I might wish it were an inch longer, but this feels a lot more easy and relaxed and -- yes -- gamine than Cousin Itt's Erotic Fantasy did.

Fugs and Fines: Anne Hathaway
All of Anne's post-Fantine public appearances have involved wearing black. Wouldn't playing a dying French prostitute make you want to inject a little sunshine into your off hours? Somebody please tell her that Cosette is going to be fine, okay? [Photos: Pacific Coast News, WENN]
