Ryan Coogler here wrote and directed *Fruitvale Station*, and I like to think that he's also Octavia's date at this event, if only because I ALWAYS want to know whom Octavia has brought as her date, given that that list includes [Josh Sussman from Glee](https://gofugyourself.com/golden-globes-weekend-well-played-octavia-spencer-01-2012?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io), [Josh Hopkins from *Cougar Town*](https://gofugyourself.com/sag-awards-fug-carpet-octavia-spencer-01-2012?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io), and of course, [her *The Help* director Tate Taylor. Additionally, can we just talk again about about how great she looked during that awards cycle? Jeez. ## Octavia Spencer ![](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/content/files/www-gofugyourself-com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/173149458_10.xml) I give this like a 7.5 out of 10 but I couldn't completely tell you why I'm not giving her totally full marks. It might feel a leeetle bit like a throw pillow and I might have done a slightly more-red lip. I would like to add here that a 7.5 for Octavia, obviously, is like a 10 for a whole bunch of other people. [Fugs, Fabs, and Fines: Various Fruitvale Station screeningsFirst of all, I am really looking forward to seeing this movie; I've heard it's fantastic. Second, can we just talk about how I want all the good things in the universe for Michael B. Jordan? He has a quality that makes him innately sympathetic in EVERYTHING from All My Children to Friday Night Lights. I spent all of FNL -- where, Hart of Dixie fans, if you haven't seen it, Mayor Lavon Hayes played his SUPER TERRIBLE father -- wanting to hug him. He didn't have to do anything. Every time I saw his face, I just wanted to run up to him and hug him. (Finding actors with this quality must be a Jason Katims specialty because I also felt this way about Matt Lauria and Zach Gilford.) It does not hurt that he wears a suit very well.
