I wasn't sure, at first, but this has grown on me substantially. She went from obsessively tight and low gowns, to really big froofy ones, and then now has landed on something that makes the point about how fit she is but in a way that's not grasping. I might have been curious about it with plain cap sleeves or no sleeves at all, in place of the puffs, but then again... sometimes Anne Shirley is right. Sometimes a puff is all that will do.

I'm not sure why there is a belt AND a dropped waist. It's the only real design feature of the dress, but it chops her up weirdly.

Well, at least it's not a fishtail. I think this may have been blue, or at least not as much of a true black, but I can't be sure; I will say that despite it feeling like pretty standard Vergara fare, she cracks me up in red-carpet interviews, and that necklace is amazing. Maybe she found that first and then picked a dress that could handle it.

She had to change for the post-parties, presumably because that skirt wasn't going to fit anywhere. And this is both beautiful, and YES, WE GET IT.

[Golden Globes Fugs and Fabs: The Modern Family CastIt was a strange thing seeing only one Modern Family acting nod, but at the same time, a delight -- the Hollywood Foreign Press Association may be full of crazy people, and nominations or wins may be for sale, but at least it isn't afraid to dispatch with the old in favor of new stuff.
