Welcome back after the long weekend, friends! (If you are an American, at any rate.) Let me tempt you with something from the below:

Our[ gift guide came out this week!](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/at-last-the-2019-gfy-holiday-gift-guide-is-here-12-2019/)

On the topic of gift guides, I obviously deeply responded to this, at The New Yorker: [HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE: HOW TO CHANNEL YOUR INNER MAXIMALIST](https://www.newyorker.com/culture/on-and-off-the-avenue/holiday-gift-guide-how-to-channel-your-inner-maximalist?verso=true&ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io). (Those caps came with the cut and paste, but they DO feel apt for something about maximalism.)

Speaking of gifts, [can we interest you in a KFC-scented fire log for this blessed holiday season](https://www.travelandleisure.com/style/shopping/fried-kfc-chicken-scented-extra-crispy-fire-yule-log??ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)? \[Travel & Leisure\]

I love Ask a Manager, and [I just...think you should read this.](https://www.askamanager.org/2019/12/the-best-office-holiday-party-date-story-of-all-time.html?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) I don't want to say any more and spoil it.

At Vulture: [How *Cats* Changed Broadway (Now and) Forever](https://www.vulture.com/2019/12/how-cats-changed-broadway-now-and-forever.html?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)

At Esquire: [70 Hours\* With the Winners (and Losers) of the National Dog Show](https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/tv/a29863646/national-dog-show-2019/?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)

Closing out our triumvirate of animal stories, at National Geographic: [The epic history of the humble goldfish. ](https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/2019/10/history-of-goldfish/?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)

Aw, [Emma Stone is getting married!](https://pubx.co/hJTXr2?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) \[Lainey\]

Also Lainey continues to be the only person [from whom I want to hear about this on-going Justin Timberlake thing](https://pubx.co/TtXRox?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io).

I haven't watched a lot of skating this season, and ergo I missed this (although I've had a lot of thoughts about various Questionable Skating Costumes over the years, as you all know, because I've done those rants here already): [Dear figure skating: Genocide is not a fashion statement.](https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/olympics/a-holocaust-costume-its-just-figure-skatings-latest-use-of-calamity-as-prop/2019/12/03/9f89411e-1611-11ea-9110-3b34ce1d92b1%5Fstory.html?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) \[WaPo\]

I love [the NPR Book Concierge.](https://apps.npr.org/best-books/?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io#view=covers&year=2019)

Jeez louise, [this Anna Faris/carbon monoxide thing is scary!](https://www.celebitchy.com/644215/anna%5Ffaris%5Fgot%5Fcarbon%5Fmonoxide%5Fpoisoning%5Fin%5Fa%5Frental%5Fhouse%5Fin%5Flake%5Ftahoe/?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) \[Celebitchy\]

LOGISTICS: [Nine Secrets I Never Knew About Airports Until I Worked at LAX.](https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2019-11-22/airport-secrets-from-dead-bodies-to-tsa-contraband-to-vip-lounges??ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) \[Bloomberg\]

These lists are fun, and this is a good one: [The 50 greatest Christmas songs – ranked!](https://www.theguardian.com/music/2019/dec/05/the-50-greatest-christmas-songs-ranked?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) (These are pop songs, not like...Latin Christmas Choral Arrangements or traditional carols.) I absolutely agree with the number one choice. \[The Guardian\]

At Vulture: [What Mister Rogers Can Teach Us About Gen X and the Generational Divide](https://www.vulture.com/2019/12/mister-rogers-neighborhood-and-generation-x.html?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)

I am generally opposed to live-action remakes of already great animated movies...[but the new Mulan looks good.](https://www.themarysue.com/the-new-trailer-for-mulan/??utm%5Fsource=web&utm%5Fmedium=fuv&utm%5Fcampaign=linkswap&ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) \[The Mary Sue\]
