This week was brutal. I know ([from our conversation on Wednesday about how we cheer ourselves up](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/cheering-yourself-up-06-2018/)) that many of you come to GFY to perk up, so I will try not to belabor it, but basically ugh. Enjoy Canada Day on Sunday, Canadians!

I am really upset about the shooting at the Capital Gazette yesterday. I suppose it feels close to home for me because I know and love so many journalists (and former journalists), but I just cannot manage to compartmentalize this one. And we shouldn't have to compartmentalize any tragedy -- they should be sufficiently rare that we mourn them all -- but that's not the world we currently live in. The Baltimore Sun ran really beautiful obituaries for the murdered, and I recommend them. [They're currently on their front page](https://www.baltimoresun.com/?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io). Speaking of front pages, the [Gazette itself put the paper out today, just the way they're supposed to](https://www.capitalgazette.com/?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io). They covered, as they put it,[ the massacre of their own newsroom](https://www.capitalgazette.com/news/annapolis/bs-md-capital-staff-20180628-story.html?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io#nt=oft08a-2gp2). Support your local paper, guys.

At the New York Times, this is extremely well-worth your time: [The Army Denied This Black Soldier a Commission in 1942\. Now It’s Making Amends.](https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/29/us/army-racial-discrimination-african-american-soldier.html?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)

It's nice when karma is efficient. At the Washington Post: [A man put a camera in his shoe for some ‘upskirting’ shots. It exploded on his foot.](https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2018/06/28/a-man-put-a-camera-in-his-shoe-for-some-upskirting-shots-it-exploded-on-his-foot/?noredirect=on&sw%5Fbypass=true&utm%5Fterm=.ee930bed85bb&ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)

At Pajiba: [Questionable Fashion: Thrift Store Adventures, Shark Hoodies, And Outrageous Prices (A True Story)](https://www.pajiba.com/miscellaneous/thrift-store-adventures-shark-hoodies-and-outrageous-prices.php?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)

Here at GFY, [we suggested a bunch of wacky pants, if you're in the market](https://www.gofugyourself.com/fug-nation-loves-whimsical-pants-06-2018?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io).

Also: [Hot World Cup coverage.](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/world-cup-thighlights-england-06-2018/)

I giggled out loud at this headline at Lainey: [Somebody stop Jared Leto](https://pubx.co/Up7ZXh?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)

[The Hollywood Reporter reports that Greta Gerwig is remaking *Little Women*](https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/little-women-movie-meryl-streep-star-greta-gerwig-adaptation-1122657?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) and the rumored cast is: Saoirse as Jo, Timotheeeeeee as Laurie (I think Chalamet is a GREAT ACTOR but I'm not sure he's sexy enough to be Laurie, but I might just be too old for him?), Emma Stone as Meg (interesting; I like it), and Streep as Marmee. I LOVE the book and I've learned something about myself: There are movies that I don't ever want anyone to remake but I have a boundless well of interest in *Little Women* adaptations. I love the Winona Ryder one, but I also love Saoirse, so....

This is [an interesting interview with Lindsay Lohan in the New York Times.](https://mobile.nytimes.com/2018/06/26/style/lindsay-lohan-mykonos-beach-club.html?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) A lot, as they say, to unpack.

Racked examines [How David Beckham Became the Most Marketable Man in the World ](https://www.racked.com/2018/6/28/17506584/david-beckham-soccer-fashion?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)

At Bitch, an interesting [look at what they're calling the uncertain future of Title IX](https://www.bitchmedia.org/article/the-unclear-future-of-title-ix?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io).

A great essay [from Roxane Gay at The Undefeated](https://theundefeated.com/features/the-world-wide-open-roxane-gay-physical-transformation-bodys-unexpected-power/?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io), ostensibly about body image, and working out, but really about so much more than that.

This is funny, at Slate: [I Was So Positive Soccer Players Are Faking It When They Roll Around, Grabbing Their Shins, That I Let a Co-worker Kick Me In the Shin As Hard As She Could](https://slate.com/culture/2018/06/soccer-players-fake-shin-injuries-but-shin-guards-actually-work.html?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)

At Celebitchy: [The ‘Amy Adams 2020 Oscar campaign’ starts right now, start working on it. ](https://www.celebitchy.com/583108/the%5Famy%5Fadams%5F2020%5Foscar%5Fcampaign%5Fstarts%5Fright%5Fnow%5Fstart%5Fworking%5Fon%5Fit/?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) Amen. Also, I know I spent some time earlier this week saying that[ I think Amy is miscast in ](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/amy-adams-shows-up-for-the-premiere-of-sharp-objects-06-2018/)*Sharp Objects*, and I do, but I think she's PERFECT for the role they mention in this piece. That book will make an excellent movie.

At Net-a-Porter, [Tessa Thompson talks very thoughtfully about Janelle Monae.](https://www.net-a-porter.com/us/en/porter/article-502e16f70e0351fa?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) It's a good interview in general.

Sincerely interesting at Vogue: [Bella Hadid’s Bodyguard on Dressing to Impress the Paparaz](https://www.vogue.com/article/bella-hadid-bodyguard-simon-newton-style-interview??ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)zi
